Revenge Of The Birds Community Mock Draft: 24th Pick, Philadelphia Eagles

With the 24th pick of the Revenge of the Birds community mock draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select...

Mike Lupati | Guard | Idaho

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

GM:
robloosli

Strengths: Versatile big man expected to be able to fill any interior line position (LG, RG, C).  Potential to play tackle, but that might not be his natural fit in the NFL, even though at 6’6, 330 pounds, he has the size and reach (34") to play tackle in the NFL.  He seems to be the consensus top overall rated interior lineman in the draft, and the ability to move to tackle if necessary has to be a huge strength when looking at how important that position can be in the NFL.

Weaknesses: Are there any with this guy?  In my opinion his biggest weakness is the level of competition he faced in college.  Let’s be honest, Idaho isn’t the best of football schools, and the WAC isn’t a BCS conference.  Does he look more outstanding because he faced inferior competition in college?

Why the Eagles will draft him: Living in Northeast PA I talk a lot of football with the Eagles fans in the area, and they all tell me the team’s biggest needs are Safety and Guard.  With the big 3 safeties (Berry, Clark, Mays) off the board and the loss of Shawn Andrews last year, the Eagles can use a versatile lineman to open up some holes for Shady and help protect Kolb in his first year as a starter.

Thanks to robloosli for making the pick for the Eagles. Skii is now on the clock with the Ravens pick while the Cardinals pick is on deck. Since the Cardinals pick won't take long, manderson367and Dallas' pick need to be ready by tomorrow(Saturday). Please send your picks to revengeofthebirds@gmail.com. The remaining picks are after the jump...

Monster

The only thing I’d add to the write up is Iupati held up very well against tougher competition when he faced it (USC, Senior Bowl, etc.). I seriously doubt we will, but I’d have no problem with him being our pick at #26.

You can send it ASAP if you want

Yes we’ll have to do a couple two days befor thursday. The Cardinals are going Dan Williams obviously.

What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.

wow

i thought i was the only cards fan living in NEPA. I know some eagles fans that i talk to wants the team to draft either a safety or a corner. i can see the eagles trading up to get a safety either berry or more likely thomas. With all 3 safetys off the board i think lupati would be a great pick for them.

I think Thomas is a good fit

Seeing as he could play both safety and corner. Where in NEPA fever? Maybe we can get together for a game this season. It always nice to have another Cards fan around.

We all bleed Cardinal Red, but most of us don't recognize it!

Probably an hour or so. We should definitely get together for a game this season. Nothing like cheering for your team with other fans of your team!

I think the Cards would love this draft with Williams – Odrick – Brown – Hughes – Pouncey still left on the board.
