2010 NFL Draft Open Thread: First Round
We're inching closer to the draft that we have been desperately waiting on for the last three months now. This is truly the highlight of the offseason aside from free agency and the schedule release. This year the draft will be an exciting three day period taking place in prime time for our viewing. The draft was also divided up into three days, with the first round taking place today. That will give teams plenty of time to prepare for rounds two and three tomorrow.

On another note, I believe we'll have two of our own(if there's more I apologize for forgetting you) that will be at the Cardinals draft party. DaCards and SundayBlitz will be on hand and will likely see the first glimpse of the Cardinals new alternate jerseys. As soon as we get a picture I'll put it on the main page. Please use this post to talk all things about the draft and of course, the Arizona Cardinals selection. The real time picks and important draft links are after the jump...

The azcardinals.com Draft Party live feed [and when the new Jersey is unveiled] starts at 4:45.
Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Chicago Bears fan.
I can't stand fair-weather/bandwagon fans, stick with your team, throughout the good and the bad.
Man I'm just ready to leave work
37 minutes to go. Then 30 min to get home. I’ll make it right at 4:30 AZ time.
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.
Revenge of the Birds
Anyone else drinking for the draft?
I’ll have Corona and lemon.
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.
Revenge of the Birds
I've tried
The lime kills the taste for some reason. If Im in the mood for lime I’ll get some bud lime. That stuff is pretty good. Then just throw a little salt on it.
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.
Revenge of the Birds
I don't do fruit in my beer.
Corona tends to be too skunky sometimes because of the clear bottles. Got to buy it in a place that moves product. I find it very hit or miss. If I’m going for a lighter beer I’ll drink Blue Moon. It’s owned by Miller so it’s available all over. Usually I prefer craft brews but this is a rare product I do like from one of the major brewers. I can’t drink anything by Anheiser-Busch for some reason. They do something to the beer that gives me nasty headaches before I’m halfway through a bottle.
Beer?
Hahaha. That stuff they drink in the states isn’t beer. I buy my beer by the half liter.
But seriously, big fan these days of a hefeweisen with a slice of orange. Little girly, not going to lie, but delicious.
But, beer of choice is Sam Adams. Summer brew, October Fest, Boston Ale. All good.
They are who we thought they were!

Franziskaner hefeweisen I like a lot. There are some good hefes put out by craft brewers in the states. Got to stay away from the big brewers for the most part if you want to drink anything decent here. People think I’m a beer snob but the funny thing is, once they start drinking good beer they’re usually hooked. People drink bad beer out of habit and inertia.
If I'm not in the mood for fruit in my beer I'll stick to Budweiser
But lately I’ve been drink Corona with lemon. I know what you mean about the skunky smell though. Blue Moon is great beer, with orange.
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.
Revenge of the Birds
Never tried heineken dark.
Didn’t even know it existed. Probably because I’m not much of a heineken fan to begin with. I’m not big on lagers or pilsners in general. The dark sounds worth a try though.
I can only imagine what the beer tastes like in Germany Jesse
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.
Revenge of the Birds
How about a Schlipps beer?
Haha
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.
Revenge of the Birds
Its Guinness for me
Unless I’m at home because Guinness just doesn’t taste the same out of cans or bottles. Alaskan Amber is tasty I’m jealous i can’t get it in PA. Gotta go with old reliable in PA: Yuengling Lager. Oldest brewery in America..

I don't think it will be that busy
Since the first and 2nd and 3rd rounds are split up, teams have more time to prepare. There’s no rush to trade with another team. With that being said. I’ll say two.
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.
Revenge of the Birds
I
would like to see the Cardinals trade out of the first round and pick up a another 2 and 3 round picks. Unless someone elite is there for the taking I like trading down.
I like the idea of trading if there is no one worth taking at #26
I just hope it’s an early 2nd round pick they would get.

Wouldn't want to trade down too far.
I could see it worthwhile depending on who is available.

Buffalo should already have made a trade with Pitt
But thats another matter. I hate this move to prime time. Im going to have to wake up tomorrow to a brand new rookie.
What time is it where you are at?

Just got to say this about McCoy
I think he is going to be the Larry Fitzgerald of his position in a few years. He seems very humble and very pationate about the game and he dedicates his came to his mother (these are traits Fitz showed when he was being drafted). I think McCoy will be the better DT between himself and Suh.
i think Suh is a really good guy from a character standpoint too
he’s apparently very humble and thankful for his position in life. did you see the article about the $3 million dollar donation (something like that) he made to Nebraska?
I hope McCoy does well. Tough situation in Tampa Bay, they have some needs!
They are who we thought they were!
by Jesse Reynolds on Apr 22, 2010 6:00 PM MDT up reply actions
They just need to find another Grudan to lead them.
Don’t think that team will do anything with Morris as the head coach.
I didn't know that.
I know he had good character but I just have a feeling McCoy will be the better of the two. Especially since he is going to the perfect system that will maximize his abilities.

Then immediately return to talking about Tebow. Oh well, we got Williams!
Just Another Halo's Victory!
for sure.
I wanted at 26 either Weatherspoon or Williams to be gone so I wouldnt be so nervous. When we used all our time though I was getting nervous! Lets hope he anchors that line for the next 10 years and allows the OLBs to tee off
Never do card tricks for the group you play poker with.
They yak about Tebow for 10 minutes then go to commercial as soon as we pick
It’s a conspiracy. Got our NT! So far, so good.
i am loving it! yes! i would be happy if the cards trade up to the end of the 1st and grab kyle wilson!
i just hope that nobody in our division snags Wilson

Yahoo's write up
National Football Post: Williams is a great value at this point in the draft and has the size and girth to anchor the interior of the Arizona defense. He showcases impressive range when asked to chase the football away from his frame and knows how to push the pocket in the pass game.

Think they plan to make him an end?

Nothing but love from ESPN
What he brings: Williams is one-of-a-kind in this year’s draft; he’s the only nose tackle who graded out as a first-rounder He carries his 330 pounds well and has an extremely thick lower body and base. He plays with great bounce and has heavy hands and an explosive initial punch. He should provide an immediate anchor in the middle for Arizona?s 3-4 defense. In addition, Williams has adequate athleticism to hold up on the interior and to make plays in pursuit outside the tackles. Arizona is taking advantage of this great value this late in the first round. Video analysis: Video McShay
How he fits: Old-timer Bryan Robinson is no longer around, so Gabe Watson was slated to be the nose tackle in Arizona?s 3-4 packages. With the addition of Williams the Cardinals get the best prototypical 3-4 nose tackle in this draft. While this wasn’t the club’s biggest need they now have a formidable front in Calais Campbell, Darnell Dockett and Williams. Alan Branch, Watson and
I don't get it, either
During the draft they said they thought cornerback and linebacker were top priorities. Mayock said it was a great pick, though.
Jahvid Best is the best-value player in the draft? Being picked exactly where he was expected to go? Mind you, the Lions gave up their second, fourth, and seventh to get him, receiving the Vikes’ fourth…
+1

The new screens don't require glasses
They use a filter to project 3D to a sweet spot — namely, your couch. The new Nintendo handheld will use the tech, and I’m guessing the 3D TV’s use it, too.
