Revenge Of The Birds Community Mock Draft: 18th Pick, Pittsburgh Steelers

With the 18th pick of the Revenge of the Birds community mock draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select...

Kyle Wilson | CB | Boise State

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Strengths: He will be an excellent return man on special teams. He has good speed and precise footwork, including a textbook backpedal. He seems to be durable.

Weaknesses: He is pretty short (5-10, 190). He gambles sometimes in coverage, and thus he can give up the big play sometimes. He could use some work on his tackling

Why the Steelers will pick him: Cornerback is a huge need for the Steelers. Luckily for the Steelers, Kyle Wilson is available and has a great skill set to be an NFL corner.

Thanks to Cardscrazy247 for making the Steelers pick. That puts durst on the clock with the Falcons pick and DaCards on deck with Houston's pick. Please send your picks to revengeofthebirds@gmail.com today. The remaining picks are after the jump...

Don't see it

Except for the way this draft has gone and the run on tackles. They can either reach for a CB like WIlson or they can reach for a tackle like USC’s Brown or a guard like Iuapuit (Sp?). Tough call here though I think if they are going to reach it will be more for the OL.

Pouncey and Iupati still available

Granted interior linemen don’t tend to go high but neither of these 2 will be around for their next pick. Either would probably be better than reaching down the tackle chart. I wonder how much Big Ben’s troubles are affecting the steeler’s approach to the draft this year.

I know he didn't in this mock

but if he slides I’ll be very curious to see how the Steelers react if Clausen is available?

I don't think

I’d call Wilson here a reach. QB’s, LT’s, and CB’s are generally the three spots that are considered the “franchise” positions. If Wilson is a starting CB this would be considered a good value at #18, and he looks the part to me.

aren't we behind by three picks? i thought this mock was to finish up by the 21st of April.

there are eleven days after today until the 21st and there are fourteen picks to be made so i was just wondering………….. anyway, just thought i’d throw that out there.

Shouldn't this one be redone now that the Steelers ditched Holmes for a 5th rounder?

Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Chicago Bears fan.

I can't stand fair-weather/bandwagon fans, stick with your team, throughout the good and the bad.
