Post Draft, Cardinals Make Changes To Scouts

The Arizona Cardinals made several changes to their scouting department on Monday. Of them was adding former Denver Broncos' fullback Kyle Johnson. Via www.azcardinals.com:

The team hired Kyle Johnson, a former fullback for the Denver Broncos, to scout players in the northeast region of the country as well as serve as the Cards' representative with the National Football Scouting Service. Johnson, who played for the Broncos from 2002-2007, was a one-time college and pro teammate of Quentin Harris, who has been working in the Cardinals' pro personnel office.

Harris has earned a promotion himself, to assistant pro personnel director, as he works under director of pro personnel T.J. McCreight.

Johnson fills the spot left when the Cardinals did not renew the contract of long-time scout Jerry Hardaway.

Johnson, who attended Syracuse, played in 45 games with the Broncos after being a fifth-round draft pick of the Panthers in 2002. Harris and Johnson played together in Denver in 2006.

With Johnson's arrival, the Cardinals have shifted the responsibilities of two other scouts. Dru Grigson, who had been scouting the Midwest and East, is now a regional scout for the eastern part of the county. Mike Boni, who had essentially had Johnson's role, will now cover the Midwest and the East.

Parting ways with Jerry Hardaway could be costly. He's experienced much success with the Cardinals. Meanwhile, Johnson won't be rushed anytime soon considering next year's draft is far away and much of the offseason rumblings have settled down.

Eh

As long as Keim stays as the director of player personnel we’ll be fine.

Good point

He’s been great for the Cardinals so far.

What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.
