Overrated and Underrated players on each team
Arizona Cardinals
Overrated: G Alan Faneca. He didn't play very well in 2009 for the Jets and his reputation is a lot bigger than his ability at this point in his career. There's a reason New York didn't want him.
Underrated: DE Calais Campbell. In his first season as a starter after taking over for Antonio Smith, Campbell proved to be just as good as the high-priced free agent who left for Houston. Campbell should be even better in 2010.

The guess work
of it all. Good call Prisco, Faneca didn’t play well in 2009? What team lead the league in rushing?
He didn't
He gave up a lot of sacks for a guard.

That's a difficult stat to actually keep track of
lots of factors go into that, like the fact that they had a QB that was constantly running around. Even if he doesn’t pass protect as well we’ll be more run-oriented anyways.
That being said I still see his point, he is getting up there in years but he’ll suffice for a couple years hopefully while mentoring the younger players.
I think for the past 5 years Hayes can definitely be considered underrated.

And from something I saw on the Jets blog
Sanchez didn’t understand the blocking assignments very well. At all.
Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Chicago Bears fan [I have always lived in Arizona, dad is from Chicago].
I can't stand fair-weather/bandwagon fans, stick with your team, throughout the good and the bad. And don't switch to whichever team wins the Super Bowl each year.
Plus with Faneca at LG and Sanchez a righty, those were blindside sacks. Rookies tend to hold the ball to long.
Life's too short. Be a fan. Orlando Magic, Arizona Cardinals,Tampa Bay Rays and of course "the U"! What a winning combo.

Still
Sacks allowed from a guard are pretty bad. They have a lot of help.
I am not down on Faneca, I just don’t think he is going to dominate. He will be okay at pass blocking and good at run blocking. Not great, just goodish/okay.

Plus
The Jets threw the ball about the least in the league. The numbers just indicate to me that he could very well be a liability in pass protection.

I'd argue that particular stat
“sacks allowed” should be attributed to the entire line. I know it can’t because that’d be hell to keep track of over a player’s career and rating individuals is how teams make decisions i.e. free agency.
I think what I’m saying is regarding the O-line it’s tough to always single out individuals, unless a tackle gets obviously beat one on one. I think he certainly has the tools, as proven in the past, and if he meshes well with our O-line his career could be ‘rejuvenated’.
I understand the concern though it just happens with age :/

More mainstream
Writers that dont actually look into what they are writing about…I would have to say IF we had an overrated player…oh wait we lost both of them this offseason…and yeah Campbell or hayes are easily the most underrated
Calais is gonna have a great year next year...
…He had seven sacks in his first year playing which is amazing especially in a 3-4. Plus he could of had at least 5 more sacks with all the ones he whiffed on early in the year. If Joey Porter can be a solid pass rusher (12 sacks), Calais and Darnell might get 10 sacks a piece. I am truly excited about the pass rush possibilities this year.

They have the potential to have one of the top defensive lines in the NFL.

+1
They did one heck of a job without an actual NT…better believe we will have the best 3 man front…hah…close to best anyways…should make life easy for any linebacker
Faneca was an obvious target.
Almost shocking he was picked over Joey Porter. Maybe Porter isn’t seen as good enough to be that overrated anymore. Then again Faneca has 9 pro bowls. He may even be overrated. That doesn’t mean he isn’t good or won’t upgrade the O-line.
Whis is also looking at the off field contributions Faneca can provide, which are obviously not taken into consideration by writers. How much better will his eventual replacement be because he was here? Impossible to know, but you can bet the Cardinals are banking on it.
Campbell is going to do big things. I don’t think anyone knows who he is outside of AZ. I recall discussing him during the 49er-Cards rivalry posting. Those guys were surprised that we are so high on him. Easy call this one.
I remember that too.
Him, Dockett, and with the potential Dan Willaims has… This is gonna be a scary D-Line.
Faneca is also a vet that can help our young guys get better, that alone is enough to make me happy about him being signed.

I love
how our D-line has so much youth too! Younger version of the Giants dominating D-line during their super bowl run? Anyone? (maybe not that far but you get what I mean)

It's apples to oranges
since they were running a 4-3, but I agree with your point about the talent levels being similar. If Williams plays to what he’s thought to be, our defense is going to have a whole new look by 2011 (or whenever the season after 2010 may be).

![ESPN's Teddy Bruschi was going over some people he thought would be breakout players, and for the Defense he went with our own Calais Campbell.
With Dockett taking up double teams, and Dan Williams hopefully opening up some holes for everyone else, I think that Campbell could lead the team in sacks this year [he would of last year if some QBs didn't get out of his grip when he could have sacked them].](http://cdn3.sbnation.com/fan_shot_images/131937/437520550_t220_small.jpg)
