As JoeCB1991 posted, Deuce Lutui reportedly weighed in at 396 pounds when he arrived at the Cardinals training facility.
I guess we know what he's been doing during the holdout - eating. This was one of the primary concerns head coach Ken Whisenhunt had during Deuce's hold out this offseason, and now it has come to fruition. This will also hinder Lutui's chances of earning his starting position back next season which is currently held by Reggie Wells.

Question
for Justin, Andrew, and Joe – I’m not saying this isn’t true but I’m curious to know what your source is before commenting on it. I saw a report from Florio, which instantly creates a validity concern. However, if you heard it from Urban or somebody reputable obviously that’s a different situation. Just curious.
Of course most of us trust Urban more than the other guys.
I know that Jureci [I bet I spelled his name wrong] said it along with Florio, but that’s all I’ve seen so far.

I can't stand fair-weather/bandwagon fans, stick with your team, throughout the good and the bad. And don't switch to whichever team wins the Super Bowl each year.
Mike Jurecki was floating this on Twitter
That’s the only source I’ve seen.
I think Urban’s on vacation, so he may not be around to report it.

In that case
here’s hoping that report is as accurate as their previous gossip columns. If not, to answer I think Joe’s question, it could lead to a trade down the road but I doubt we cut him with the season he just had.
I think he screwed himself for this season regardless
But yeah, approaching 400 pounds increases the chances that he gets no playing time versus some.

Again, it depends
if the report is true it will take forever to remove 58 pounds of lard and get him in playing shape all at the same time. However, if Jurecki is dyslexic and inverted the number, then it’s 31 pounds to shed (not good but not as bad). If it’s an erroneous report altogether then they owe Lutui an even bigger apology than his reported weight gain. Don’t get me wrong, if any one of you three had first-hand knowledge of this I wouldn’t question it at all, but the names attached to it make me skeptical. Remember everyone’s cries for voiding Porter’s contract?
Saw it here

Which stems from Jurecki’s tweet, whom I would trust for something like this. I’m sure he’s credentialed at the Cardianls training facility, which is where he could see or hear something like this. If it is true, then waiting another month till training camp is only causing the damage to be worse.
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.
Revenge of the Birds
With the depth that the Cardinals have at their Offensive Line
If he can’t lose that weight, he will either lose his starting spot, or he will be gone.
I do hope that he hasn’t ballooned up like this, he was pretty good last season.

Maybe he’s just trying to be as big as the guy who is probably replacing him….Hopefully he plays like a beast and we can get a 2nd for him and draft another house
I had a feeling Wells was going to start anyway.
The contract holdout affects this particular coaching staff than most I believe. If someone doesn’t give 110% from the beginning than one way or another they won’t get playing time.

doesn't he need to pass a physical to sign?
shouldn’t they have known about this weight?
does he hide that extra weight easy or something?
revenge is like a ghost. it takes over every man it touches. its thirst cannot be quenched until the last man has fallen.
Very good question
If anyone knows please share the knowledge. I always hear about players needing to pass a physical when they get traded but it does stand to reason that it would be a part of a contract offer with your current team as well. I will concede in this case it could have gone unnoticed because the tender offer was submitted so long ago and no one has seen him since the season ended (if I understood the reports correctly). But blank_38 raises one more question that makes me want a first-hand account of this story.
Really hoping that the so-called journalists who broke this story are using their imaginations again. Otherwise, I’d think that there is some clause in the offer that deals specifically with something like this, and I’d hate to see Deuce completely screw himself out of a potential deal he was starting to put into place with his play last year. If it is true he can kiss any long-term offer, from anyone, good-bye.
I was shocked to find what sounds like a correct answer here
but this seems to be a logical explanation to your question:
