8-23-10: Arizona Cardinals Bird Droppings

Its gameday! The rematch of Matt Leinart and Vince Young after their incredible game in the 2006 Rose Bowl, and last seasons game where Leinart found out he would have to play a couple of hours before the game after Kurt Warner's concussion from the week before kept him out, and he played well enough to win the game, except Young did it again and beat Leinart in the final seconds after a 99 yard drive with 3 4th down conversions on that one drive.

Here are some links, and most of what I've found was about the Leinart/Young connection.

KTAR.com - Trumaine McBride having impressive camp
When the Cardinals traded away Bryant McFadden during draft weekend, the right cornerback spot was immediately perceived to belong to Greg Toler. And it still might. But so far in here in training camp it's been four-year veteran Trumaine McBride whose been seeing the bulk of time opposite Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie with the first team defense.

Memo to Matt Leinart: Start like Alex Smith - NFC West Blog - ESPN
The 12-play, 70-yard touchdown drive Alex Smith just led for the San Francisco 49ers was precisely what the team needed to see from Smith and its first-team offense.

Farewell to Johnny Bailey
Johnny Bailey made a Pro Bowl for the Phoenix Cardinals back in 1992, when he led the NFL with 13.2 yards per punt return. He averaged more than 11 yards a punt return as a rookie for the Bears in 1990. But Rod Graves — now the Cardinals’ general manager who was part of the Bears’ front office that drafted Bailey back in 1990 — doesn’t think football when he first thinks of Bailey.

A couple of other things that would be nice to see from Matt are true confidence and poise. Help us believe that you want the job and feel like your offensive line believes in you. I suppose we will see Matt for most of the first quarter, so if he can make the most of it, it will instill confidence in the Cardinal faithful...at least for another week.
