I personally think
That Hightower would benefit from getting into the game a little later, after Matt has had the chance to complete a couple of passes. The fact of the matter is that Beanie is better at getting through traffic, Hightower is better at using his speed when the defense is more spread out..

Defense looks good so far.

Not to make a point of comparison, but Alex Smith recently adjusted to dealing with bad protection. He actually rolls out to the other sides now, and last night he looked good running through the pocket and delivering on the move. Leinart needs to get better at that. Pressure is part of the game.

Having a running game that anemic just makes things worse for your offense.
Hightower and Beanie need to put Matt or DA in a good position to make the throw instead of giving them 2nd and long or 3rd and long.
And DA missed another easy throw.

Hightower needs the defense to be a little more spread out, which only happens when they have to worry about the passing game. Unfortunately, they’re not worrying too much about the pass right now. Beanie on the other hand, can run through some traffic, which would open some things up for Matt when the defense is worrying about Beanie breaking loose..

Why can't Matt just come back into the game?
No one wants to watch DA play. I know it’s important to improve our backup, but I think all of us would rather see Matt play and succeed, rather than DA fail.
Very little to feel good about here. As bad as the QB play as been the OL has been worse. The defense isn’t doing much to get pressure on Young and the pressure they are getting isn’t leading to negative plays. At least it’s preseason, but something clearly has to change if this is to be a successful season. When the punter is having the best showing for the team it should be a wakeup call. They’ve got a few weeks left, hopefully they can make something happen.

No running game with the first team offense, bad pass blocking, Leinart has no time to get anything besides a checkdown off. It looked like there was some kind of misscommunication on the deep pass too. And Anderson has made some nice passes but he has also missed some passes that I could make. I’m not impressed by either of these guys right now.

The offense in general needs a shot in the ass. Playcalling = meh. Ground game = 7 carries for 3 yards. Passing = 13/22 for 125 yards. All in all pretty poor. It’s not just the QB’s.

I've decided something
This is all part of Coach Whiz’s plan to win Superbowl 45. First, he makes his team fail in the preseason, but has them do good here and there. Then, everyone totally underestimates the Cards. After the pre-season, the Cards come out and surprise everyone. They make the playoffs, sweep their way to Superbowl 45, and blow it away.

There's a hopeful thought.
9 plays for 19 yards is lousy. Whis took Leinart out before he got anything going. Young was left in at least long enough to show he could be effective. Anderson stunk. Matt seemed completely unconcerned about the first team offense’s performance those first few possessions.
