Arizona Cardinals Photo Of The Day: Matt Leinart Sacked

Arizona Cardinals' quarterback Matt Leinart is sacked by Chicago Bears' defensive end Julius Peppers. Also in the picture is left tackle Levi Brown. Is it Matt's tendency to hold onto the ball too long/fall to move around in the pocket or is it Brown already showing signs that he struggles with quick pass rushers  that resulted in this sack?

Leinart's biggest weakness is his lack of a quick release. It's setback his preseason thus far and may have jeopardized his chances at starting for the Cardinals. Levi Brown and the rest of the offensive line haven't looked spectacular so far. Brown needs to get his head on straight quickly or one of the Cardinals' quarterbacks may winde up injured.

Finally saw the game on replay last night

This sack had nothing to do with Matt holding the ball too long. Brown was beat right off and Matt did well to secure the ball. BTW glad to see you posting again Andrew.

I can't stand fair-weather/bandwagon fans, stick with your team, throughout the good and the bad. And don't switch to whichever team wins the Super Bowl each year.

I think Peppers just owned him that play

That’s gonna happen with a talent like Peppers vs a guy who doesn’t excel in pass protecting.

Caption: Getting sacked by Julius Peppers is nothing compared to getting sacked by the Cardinals

I once tried to quit a job using a dry erase board. Unfortunately I wrote the first part in Sharpie so I couldn't finish.

Watching both of the sacks

The first one was when Leinart was trying to move around in the pocket after Faneca let someone get by him, but he had no room in the pocket to get away from the pressure, then on the second one Peppers just burned Levi.

I think he bumped into someone on the O-Line for the first one though.

He bumped into a guard, I think

Then was promptly knocked to the ground by Sendlein, who had given up on the play and was just kind of wandering around. Really, they should give big Lyle the first sack…

It looked like Faneca gave up on the play too after he was beat.

This was something that drove me nuts with the line last year

I wonder if they’re instructed to? I think OL injuries tend to occur when there’s traffic behind them and they get pushed into it, knocked over, blindsided, etc.

Blame the line, not Linert... er... Leinert.

He goes 9 for 10 and leads them to a TD (should have been 2 but for the Well’s (non-)fumble) and he still gets blamed for being sacked by Peppers? Huh?

If Matt’s our starting QB, I think he will have a good year and the Cardinals will win 10 or 11. If Derek’s our starting QB, we’ll lose two or three more games because of his turnovers and the 49ers will likely win the division.

A good year is all we need because I see Beanie picking up where he left off and I think Tim will keep pushing for play time. As long as the O-line settles into their roles, of course.
