May I ask WHY?

Why so serious??

Star-divide

Not why is Matt not starting, but why is everyone so disappointed Hes not? I'm disappointed in Matt not coach Whiz. Matt plays stiff, clumsy, and just plain. You don't see a swagger if i must say in hes "lay back play" maybe you should quit laying back and do your job. When you throw the ball six yards every play and expect your receiver to make the first down almost every play your not doing your job as a QB, am i right or am i wrong? You as a QB should make it easier for your receivers to catch the ball without always getting rammed by the defense right after every catch. Breasten got that touchdown not Matt, I'm not saying that Matt wasn't my first pick to start but DA has shown a better presence and our offense seems to lean towards Derek. Just to clear up Derek's interceptions.... Not hes fault our draft pick Roberts cant hang on to the football, if that were Fitz it be a completion. Both came off hes hands if you don't remember! No leadership in Matt, not even one year and DA shows more leadership with the cardinals. I hope DA starts now, have we even seen what DA can do with LARRY on the field?? We haven't and i think Whiz believes there will be something special between them such as i do, LARRY needs the long ball and Matt cant provide that but i know some who can?!?!?! DEREK ANDERSON!

So everybody who's calling Whiz a drama Queen, you guys are really the ones causing the drama.

Matt=DRAMA

Whiz=FOOTBALL

If you don't remember Whiz is why we are the team we are today so let the man do his job.

THANK YOU! GO CARDINALS AND GO DA

I believe in Whiz not ML

I always questioned ML’s ability to play but never Whis’s ability to coach

Interesting quote by Kent Somers from Peter King
I think the best note from a practice session I’ve seen this summer came from Kent Somers […] monitoring the combined Cards-Titans practice on Wednesday in Nashville. Before a snap when the Cards’ offense stepped to the line of scrimmage, Somers heard a Titans defender say to a teammate: "I got a buffalo nickel that says he checks down.’’ In footballese, that translates to: Matt Leinart will always take the easy way out instead of trying to make a play.

Defenses know how to play Matt. The Titans blitzed the hell out of him and got 3 straight 3&outs. DA might be what we need to get Larry his touches.

It's simple.

If you could do that, then when you don’t like people’s response to a comment, you could simply delete your comment, leaving the replies and the rest of the thread in chaos, cause nobody knows what people are talking about..

Okay, so maybe not so simple. The idea was there, however..

It must be that time of day, the time to focus on sports.

I feel bad for Matt

… but not bad enough to let him QB this team

I would even question if he has any trade value, but maybe some coaches are still enamored with his college days

by quid pro quo on Sep 3, 2010 10:10 AM MDT up reply actions

please note that i am a browns fan visiting here and not a cardinals hater when i say this. derek anderson is not going to do much for you. we went through the same crap with him and brady quinn for 2 years and neither one produced for us. hence why we had to retool the entire position with jake delhomme, seneca wallace, and colt mccoy. i hope for your sake d.a. can at least be effective, but for cleveland, he had a fluke season in 07 and has been a model of inconsistency and poor accuracy since.

by Derek Drennan on Sep 3, 2010 1:13 AM MDT reply actions

We've had good luck resurecting crappy QB's

Warner for one, he was awful and considered over the hill when he came to the Cards … and I still remember Burline and Boomer in a Cards jersey

DA throws the bad hard and is a good fit for this offense … but if I’m the Cards I’m watching the situation in MN very closely … They have 3 starting QB’s and if Sage gets cut the Cards should be all over him

by quid pro quo on Sep 3, 2010 10:16 AM MDT up reply actions

Who says he falls to us?

Twenty some odd teams ahead of us on the waiver wire.

by toolman234 on Sep 3, 2010 10:35 AM MDT up reply actions

good point

and a trade is all but impossible too … Iets just say I’d be happy seeing the Cards make a move to get Sage, because I think he’s on the verge of being a very good NFL QB and the vikes are crazy to cut or trade him … but I’d like to see it happen because he deserves a shot to be a #1, based on his play

Glad to see Komar made the team, and I’m curious whats going to happen with Matt … I think its also a bit crazy to start the season with 2 rookie back-ups

by quid pro quo on Sep 3, 2010 2:59 PM MDT up reply actions

Sage traded to Giants

makes it possible for him to land in a Cards Jersey … watch for a Matt (+ draft pick) trade for Sage :)

by quid pro quo on Sep 4, 2010 8:45 AM MDT up reply actions

Interesting theory

What makes you think NY would want Leinart over Rosenfels? Just the extra draft pick?

by hadrarius on Sep 4, 2010 11:36 AM MDT up reply actions

well ... I was wrong

because the Giants were mentioned as a team that contacted the Cards about Leinart … but we cut Matt outright

/sigh

let just hope Matt isn’t so butt-hurt about getting cut that he goes to the 9ers or Seachickens and gives up the ins and outs and new wrinkles on the offense

by quid pro quo on Sep 4, 2010 1:33 PM MDT up reply actions

Went over to the Daily Norseman to see what I might learn about Sage. There was a lot of talk about how much money he was making as a back up and how that was a determining factor in Minnesota trading him. The numbers weren’t even close to what Leinart would be getting next year. NY went with the cheaper option.

If Leinart did that it would be the fastest road to the end of his career. What team would ever want to take a chance with him then? The Seahawks aren’t interested in him. Can’t see the niners taking him in either.

by hadrarius on Sep 4, 2010 2:16 PM MDT up reply actions

Wouldn't be the first time a coach(see Belichek) signed a player

… for a week to go over the offense and then cut them … but ML is a bit of a high profile player to do that too, in the TMZ sense

by quid pro quo on Sep 4, 2010 6:06 PM MDT up reply actions

It would be a career killer for him.

Like you said, he’s way too high profile to get away with shennanigans like that. Besides, if Warner is still giving him any advice he won’t go that route, at least not if he adheres to the advice.

by hadrarius on Sep 4, 2010 6:55 PM MDT up reply actions

I'd be shocked if we pick up someone else to be our third-string QB

Part of the logic for cutting Leinart is to keep Hall and Skelton off the waiver wire. Unless you’re thinking of Rosenfels as the back-up, but I still can’t see that as I believe we’ve seen his ceiling – keep Hall and Skelton, they’re younger with a lot more potential.

by Long Beach on Sep 3, 2010 10:49 AM MDT up reply actions

Would not surprise me any if they pick up a veteran QB and let Skelton go.

and Leinart too. They may like both rookies but who’s to say there aren’t some guys out there they like better that weren’t available before. Max Hall is sticking, be it 2nd or 3rd string.

by hadrarius on Sep 3, 2010 7:31 PM MDT up reply actions

and DA isn't bret favre

the Cards backup is pretty much guaranteed snaps this year … I like Hall and Skelton, but at this point they are both projects

by quid pro quo on Sep 3, 2010 8:42 PM MDT up reply actions

You generally don't move up in the draft to get rid of someone, especially when

they’ve shown the flashes of brilliance that Skelton has. You can teach a QB a lot, but you can’t give someone who doesn’t have it an arm like that.

by Long Beach on Sep 3, 2010 11:35 PM MDT up reply actions

Not generally no, but I don't think he's guaranteed anything.

I’m not conviced he can’t make it to the practice squad either.

by hadrarius on Sep 3, 2010 11:46 PM MDT up reply actions

No, if there's a word that isn't in the Whiz's vocabulary it's guarantee

but if he hits the waiver wire I don’t see how Buffalo doesn’t look at Brohm and say it’s been nice knowing you. Imagine him in Indy with Manning as his mentor? Jacksonville? KC? I can’t see any one of those teams not dumping their third-string for him.

by Long Beach on Sep 4, 2010 12:03 AM MDT up reply actions

Just read that Houston released Booty

think they’re waiting to see what we do with Skelton?

by Long Beach on Sep 4, 2010 12:52 AM MDT up reply actions

I agree with you Quid

my comment was a poor attempt at humor – I’ve been missing sarcasm in posts this week myself. In spite of Cleveland fans’ constant warnings, I’m very comfortable with DA as our starter.

by Long Beach on Sep 3, 2010 11:57 AM MDT up reply actions

And who says DA didn't learn anything in Cleveland ...

he burst onto the scene and then got benched … often failure leads to success

by quid pro quo on Sep 3, 2010 2:53 PM MDT up reply actions

I sure hope so.

I jumped ship for a bandwagon…

Wow you amaze me with your confidence in D.A. - have you truly watched him since he's came into the league?

If so…. I just can’t see why you’re so up on him as our QB. Please do tell why you’re so adamant in your stance with D.A. as top dog.

by az78true on Sep 4, 2010 2:05 AM MDT up reply actions

he had a good camp

and he won the job easily … he’s clearly the best option at QB for this team … strong arm, quick feet, quick release, and can make all the throws … the rest he can learn as he grows, and that was never going to happen in Cleveland (Mangini destroys QBs)

were you up in Flag for camp too?

I’m not saying I’d draft him on my fantasy team, I’m saying he’s by far our best option at QB … and its not even close

by quid pro quo on Sep 4, 2010 8:32 AM MDT up reply actions

I think I need to get Quid and Hadrarius to answer all my

responded comments, they’re saying pretty much verbatim everything I would.

Actually my original comment to Jessesb was a joke in getting to see that the Cardinals organization as the ship, and the individual player the bandwagon – another poor attempt at humor on my part.

To answer your question, I grew up in Oregon so I’ve been witness to DA for a long time now. Why I am so adamant about him as the top dog? He gives us a better chance to win than Leinart does, nothing more, nothing less. Cleveland is a deathbed for QB’s, much like Seattle is for WR’s (ask Housh). With the Whiz and Chris Miller in his corner, along with our offensive weapons, I’m very confident that he’ll equal or even surpass his 2007 season. Is he perfect? Not even close. Have a heard anything resembling a compliment for him from any of Leinart’s lackeys yet? Not really.

by Long Beach on Sep 4, 2010 12:37 PM MDT up reply actions

Leinart lackey here

He’s gone so I’m now 100% behind my starter. I worry about the accuracy but look forward to the field stretching! That should help the run game too.

by Birdman from Mesa on Sep 4, 2010 1:22 PM MDT up reply actions

I'm a little on edge with DA

I felt we had a better option with ML since I feel he has performed at the very least adequately during the season in the past. It seemed like we needed to give him that chance in the regular season. However, if Whiz was testing Leinart with this benching, then obviously Matty failed and thats on him. I guess we will never know what could have been.

I just hope Anderson shows us more than he showed Cleveland. At least he has a better supporting cast! Good luck to him and go Cards!

by GivingThemFitz on Sep 3, 2010 4:13 AM MDT reply actions

Whiz just does not

share his coaching with the qb. That creates the wrong atmosphere and it takes the correct atmosphere to be a multidecade success

by steelerstyle on Sep 3, 2010 6:23 AM MDT reply actions

There's gratitude for you

His play calling (along with some help from the zebras) is largely what got you past Seattle for Super Bowl victory #5 and the best props you can give him is a vague, “does not share his coaching with the qb.”?

by Long Beach on Sep 3, 2010 10:52 AM MDT up reply actions

He turned our franchise around

And is considered by many talking heads that he one of the better coaches in the league.
Really there is no need to defend Whiz, his actions and short history here speak volumes.

whiz has been a fantastic coach, and anyone whos says differently is just a hater

by quid pro quo on Sep 5, 2010 8:51 AM MDT up reply actions

From another Steeler fan

I agree. Whiz has come to win. Not play nice. If you arent cutting it, you arent cutting it. Whiz came from the Cowher tree, hes a no nonsense kind of guy. He doesnt care about draft status or anything, the best player will play

Hes done a great job with Arizona, and I would expect he may make some surprises out of Derek Anderson. Hes no Kurt Warner, but he fits Kens philosophy more than Leinart

Good luck for the season guys. Ill be watching

"I’m going to say Phillip Rivers. The first time Isacked him, I got up and did my little celebration. He started talking trash and saying, "Get back in the huddle" and woofin’. So I told myself that the next time he’d pay the price. The next time I got him, I took him on what I call the "rollercoaster." He met the ground and I stood over him. When he got up he was a little woozy. On the next play he threw the ball away before I could get him again. After I hit him that time he couldn’t say anything and I didn’t have to celebrate. I just wanted to look in his eyes and let him know that
Number 56 put him in the dirt." - Lamarr Woodley
