Report: Arizona Cardinals Have Given Matt Leinart Permission To Seek Trade
Not that this comes as a real surprise but, according to the Sports Xchange, the Cardinals have granted Matt Leinart and his agent the right to seek a trade.
The thing I find most interesting about it is that the team still plans on playing Leinart even though he's looking for a new home. It's like hooking up with your ex right before you break up, it's potentially risky and someone is bound to get hurt physically or emotionally.
You have to wonder how Matt feels about that and if you'll be able to see it in his play tonight. That and it's a big risk for the team when it comes to a possible injury.
Update:
"Could Leinart end up w/ @SF_49ers or Seattle @Seahawks? @MikeJurecki reports they have shown interest, Cards won't trade him in NFC West. — @XTRA910 via Twitter"
Trading in the division at first glance seems like a poor plan, but if the return were a veteran QB it wouldn't be a bad deal at all. David Carr of the 49ers and Charlie Whitehurst of the Seahawks were two QBs the Cards had their eyes on before.

If he doesn't want to be a backup
Where would he go? More importantly, where would he have stellar receivers, a rising running game, an average offensive line that is (in my opinion) getting better, and an underrated defense that will surprise some people? If I am Matt, I stay here. Let DA’s “swagtangibles” lead him to a pick per game or more and another 50% completion percentage. By the bye week, DA will be hearing the boos. Despite Whiz saying that he is more comfortable now having a rookie as a backup, we all know that he would feel a lot safer if DA doesn’t pan out having Matt as a backup instead of a rookie.

I agree, the best bet is to stay here and see if DA falters
If not, I would probably go to USC Seattle if I was him.

I can't stand fair-weather/bandwagon fans, stick with your team, throughout the good and the bad. And don't switch to whichever team wins the Super Bowl each year.
Your season is over before it began...back to underachieving.......
DA is going to sink you guys, yeah, he will look good at times and he will also having you setting up the gallows ready for a lynching. Honestly I would take him as my backup instead of Carr….That’s right boys, I’m a 49er fan. I just wanted Leinart to be successful, because I like USC, but time for him to move on, and DA to bring you down….How good is Fitz when the ball is 5 yards over his head. Fitz is one of the leading canidates that brought this on, cause he don’t like Leinart….well now he has to sleep in the crap that he started…..Fact…..Fitz does NOT go the the Pro Bowl this year…you have to have stats to do that and DA is too inconsistant to deliver the right kind of stats…..6 wins this year….Congrats, you are now just as good as Cleveland..Hahahahahahahhaahhaha!!!
If that's what happens
congrats on your 8-8 NFC West “Champion” season and first round playoff exit. 49er’s fans sure have a ton of balls considering they’re laughing their butts off about this situation while relying on Alex Smith to be their savior.
Call me when Alex Smith decides to be an NFL QB for more than a few games, as well. I’m pretty sure DA has had more sustained success in the past than him, Alex’s just happened to be more recent and less productive.
what !!!
I can’t believe I defending Alex Smith, Alex freaking Smith from a slur by a fellow Card fan
Smith (who we all like to revile) has actually advanced incrementally, until last year, his QB rating was only ONE (1) point less than DA during his ‘Pro Bowl’ season. While I do not like Smith, his numbers last year were ALL twice as good as DAs. That’s right, TWICE as good. And we all sit on here and laugh at Alex Smith and you are really going to sit there and try to claim DA is even close to him ????
Is it any wonder we are so mad about this Leinart situation, when our apparently annointed starter is demonstrably WAY worse than Alex freaking Smith ?

SCSA and Joe
Do you guys even like the Cardinals? Or just the players on the team that you like?

Just no faith in Anderson

Then don't jump on the bandwagon when he starts doin' pretty well
If there’s anything that bugs me more than 9er fan trolls, it’s Cards fans that constantly jump on and off the ‘wagon. Being a fan isn’t about faith in this guy or the next, it’s about having faith in the “athletic process” as Wolfley describes it. Give it a few Sundays before you start losing faith.

Your comments get progressively more ignorant as they go
How good is Fitz when the ball is five yards over his head? I’ve never seen anyone better. Watch his performance in the 2008 playoffs when he broke Rice’s postseason records and you’ll see what I mean. Fitz doesn’t go to the Pro Bowl this year? Real credible statement there…
6 wins this year? You got that number right if you’re talking divisional wins.
+100
Maybe you should be more worried on the fact that your nose tackle JUST signed his tender, and the fact that your TE and #1 WR dont like each other…It’s going to be at least week 5 before Franklin is back in shape and your most prominent player (Willis) will suffer because of it…Go back to Niner Nation and count the days until Fitz and Anderson embarass you on Monday Night
