New Orleans Saints At San Fransisco 49ers: Monday Night Football Open Game Thread
Tonight, the San Fransisco 49ers in their first of four Primetime games this season will be going against the reigning Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints.
And since the Cardinals are not playing tonight, lets use this as a chance to check out how the Cardinals' main rival, and the team that was picked by almost all of the media experts to run away with the NFC West and return to their former glory responds after a 31-6 beatdown at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks.
So, will the 49ers make up for their awful performance last week and shock the defending champs, or will they fall to 0-2 after all the hype they had during the offseason? Its time to see.

Lulz
The center just snapped the ball 15 feet over Smith’s head and it went out of the endzone for a Safety.
Nice start 49ers…

That bad snap reminded me of what Mike Pouncey did with Florida during their first two games this year.

why are the saints on offense dinking, dunking and running the ball instead of going to the deep ball?

faked blitz’ this game by the saints.
They haven’t gotten many sacks buts haven’t given up many big plays either.

I’m not a fan of him (I think he is the most overrated player in thr NFL), but tough break for the guy. I hope he is okay.
And the 49ers muffed a punt that the Saints recovered…

depends on your rating system
just because he was drafted high—shouldn’t make him a god.
but the Saints don’t pretend he is. They run the ball with Thomas more than him.
by Cuckoo for Coco Puffs on Sep 20, 2010 9:30 PM MDT up reply actions
i do
that’s why everyone thinks he’s overrated. because he went 2nd overall. And he got paid a fortune.
he’s a very good 3rd down back and punt returner. -but he’s being paid like he’s Chris johnson (or better)-But he’s not the only overpaid guy in the league.
by Cuckoo for Coco Puffs on Sep 20, 2010 9:34 PM MDT up reply actions
He was supposed to be what Chris Johnson is now when he was drafted
The guy was an incredible player in college, but in the NFL is is basically a role player who is treated like one of the stars on the team.
He is good at what they have him doing though. I think he would be better if they just switched him to receiver.

I gotta say that Smith has been impressive today
The two picks weren’t his fault, they were both on tipped passes that looked like they were on target. And the 49ers look more like the team everyone expected them to be before the season started.
They are just making too many mistakes.

Props to Alex Smith
I think his career was on the line on the 49’ers last drive, and he showed up big time.
so question if anyone is still here
The play where calvin johnson “fumbled” wasn’t a catch because he didn’t complete the process, but vernon davis had a catch in the endzone when he was in midair? that doesn’t make any sense
I think it has to do with being in the end zone
CJ lost the ball before completing the process of the catch. Davis caught the ball across the goal line and never lost the ball. apples and oranges really.
We all bleed Cardinal Red, but most of us don't recognize it!
and for the record
the rule sucks. CJ caught that ball.
We all bleed Cardinal Red, but most of us don't recognize it!
but I thought that was the controversy,
it’s the same for the field of play as it is for the end zone. I don’t know. Don’t make no sense to me. I don’t think you can establish a position on the field without, ya know, being on the field.

It will be interesting to see how well you play the Saints in a few weeks.
The 49ers lost the game more than the Saints won it….sounds like a bulshit line, but it is true. How many times can you turn the ball over inside the 30 yard line? The Niners had to go for two to tie, but that 2 was because of a HORRIBLE snap 30 feet in the air that led to a saftey. So I feel good about Smith and where the 49ers are headed. They took it to the Super Bowl Champs and beat themselves. Our schedule gets easier and yours get harder. DA doesn’t play as well as Smith….so enjoy the Saints, and if you beat them, I will congratulate your for it…..Because if you do beat them, you deserved it…….Unless they turn the ball over 4 times inside the 30 yard line and hand you the win….
