Arizona Cardinals Photo Of The Day: Derek Anderson Takes A Hit

ATLANTA - SEPTEMBER 19: William Moore #25 of the Atlanta Falcons tackles quarterback Derek Anderson #3 of the Arizona Cardinals at Georgia Dome on September 19 2010 in Atlanta Georgia. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)

In the photo above, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Derek Anderson is hit has he throws against the Atlanta Falcons. Anderson's toughness has been questioned so far this season -- and he's surpassed the test. There's little doubt about that. Unfortunately for him, toughness doesn't always win games.

The Cardinals slipped to 1-1 after their crushing defeat. There's plenty of blame to go around, but a lot of it falls on Anderson's shoulders. He completed just 54% of his passes with a quarterback rating of 42.5. Numbers like that will rarely earn a win in today's NFL. Also, the Cardinals' defense did little to give Anderson a chance, allowing 444 yards of total offense.

Anderson, who suffered multiple crushing hits all game, had this to say afterwards:

"It was the frustration of the whole day. We laid an egg and they were beating us up. It’s never good to take a hit and he’s running his mouth and you can’t say anything."

Pain or not, he likely knows that he's one good hit away from losing his job to a rookie. Whether that rookie can do anything spectacular remains to be seen.

The Cardinals are only two games into the season and came out with a win on a two-game road trip to begin the season. We haven't seen this team at home yet, and a crowd and referee ruling in your favor could be the spark that Anderson needs. If he continues his poor play however, don't think for a second that Ken Whisenhunt won't give someone else the opportunity.

Andrew you're a sadist.

First Hightower fumbling and now this. Can we get a photo in a positive light next time?

Positive?

Besides Hightower’s run, was there one?
Sorry, not usually negative, but I actually was just looking for my weekly wallpaper photo, and this is in the running.

I actually love these pictures

And yes, when we win (or lose) a good game, that would be time for a better picture. But so far, lol.

Cardinals unprepared!

If you have a QB that is a 50% passer, then put him in motion and use him as a RB or blocking back half the time. If he is going to get hit at least make it purposeful. This action would open the passing lanes and hopefully keep the chains moving. If he justs drops back to pass there is no mystery for the defense.
Coach Sing of the 49ers has been blasted for his job performance. At least his team shows up prepared and ready to play. Yes they lost to New Orleans last night but they put up one hell of a fight. The same can not be said of the Cardinals in their first two games. Yet people want to give coach Wiz a free pass from blame.
The question has been asked, “Who is most responsible for the success of the Cards over the last 4 seasons, Whiz or Warner?” With Warner gone that question will be answered over the course of this season.
In this game it is not only the horses you have but how they are used. It is up to Whiz to make the most of what he has. These are pros and any team can win any game on any given Sunday if the stratagy is correct for the players on the field and they are prepared to execute a game plan designed to defeat that particular foe.
Coach Sing had the Niners ready for the SB Champs and came very close to pulling out a victory. I wish the same could be said for coach Wiz. With Warner out of the way his coaching abilities are being exposed for what they are. It is an exposure in the making, so the answer may not be completely revealed until near the end of this season.
Warner was famous for changing what seemed to be the majority of called plays at the line. I wonder why?
I love my Cardinals and want the best for them and honesty will win out in the end for positive change either at the coaching level or the player level. It starts with game preparation, the coach’s assignment. So far this season the Arizona Cardinals have been unprepared.

Photos to come!

This Sunday the Cards will meet the Oakland Raiders. This should be fertile ground for picture taking. These two teams have both beaten the St. Louis Rams. This is a home game with Cardinals still licking their wounds received at the hands of the Falcons. I hope we see a photo of a Cardinal game winning play. It is the home opener after all. If the coach can not get his team prepared to dismantle a team like the Raiders then I am sure coach Whiz will have “some ’splaining” to do. Even his biggest fans will begin to doubt his abilities.
I am looking forward to Monday’s Headline of “Arizona beats back Raiders and takes control of Division!”
This is our house and we must protect it. It is up to our General to prepare our troops for battle to not only defeat the enemy but to send a message to the rest of the league,“If you come into our desert be prepared to get buried!”
I want to see a picture of Hightower crossing the Goal line or a photo of Fitz leaping to take the ball away from defenders. I would love nothing more than a lopsided victory, let’s say by maybe 40-7? I will be first to praise all parties involved in the preparation for the defense of “Our House”.
It is put up or shut up time for the Cardinals and their coaches. The picture will be worth at least a thousand words. Better believe it!

Add on post

Bill Davis, Cardinal defensive coordinator, blames the 41-7 loss to the Falcons on the fact that “We got out-coached!” I believe this includes Whiz. Just saying.

The Cards need to get a few plays dialed up that can burn blitzes like the ones we have been seeing.

Just look at this play from the Bears/Cowboys game.

Their coaches noticed how poorly their line was preforming at the start of the game, so they went to quick passes where Cutler throws the ball as soon as he gets it. Then on this play with an all out blitz, Cutler takes a 1 step drop and gets the ball out of his hands to the open man, and he runs it in for a TD.

Make defenses pay for sending so many blitzers at DA. Come up with some plays with quick drops where DA can get the ball out of his hands fast.

Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Chicago Bears fan [I have always lived in Arizona, dad is from Chicago].

I can't stand fair-weather/bandwagon fans, stick with your team, throughout the good and the bad. And don't switch to whichever team wins the Super Bowl each year.
