Around SBN: Now They've Screwed Spurs, UEFA Willing To Review Rule

Well there you have it. The wait is over and the great national debate can come to an end. Matt Leinart has been cut by the Arizona Cardinals with the official announcement soon to come.

Now the only question is how soon does he wind up in Seattle and has he paid close enough attention to actually be able to give the Seahawks any of the Cardinals plays.

And now the season can begin

Seahawks cut J.P. Losman

Word is they are picking up QB Patrick Ramsey, another guy like Whitehurst and Derek Anderson with a strong arm. Maybe not so interested in Leinart after all.

by hadrarius on Sep 4, 2010 12:29 PM MDT reply actions

Where did this presumption of interest come from anyway?

Seahawks fan here. I don’t see it. He doesn’t fit the mold of QBs we’re looking for. And PC’s “USC connection” has been a paper doll so far, it hasn’t actually been visible in his roster management.

It’s not impossible Leinart ends up in Seattle, but I have seen no serious signs that we have any interest. We’re more likely to go with Ramsey or no QB3.

by Thomas Beekers on Sep 4, 2010 12:33 PM MDT up reply actions

Well it's because the Cardinals don't play any UFL team's this year so the joke wouldn't have been as funny.

I think the assumption purely comes from the USC Connection and the fact that Carroll even gave Lendale White a shot before letting him go.

I once tried to quit a job using a dry erase board. Unfortunately I wrote the first part in Sharpie so I couldn't finish.

+1

A lot of people adding 2 & 2 and getting five. The Taylor Mays connection didn’t score an “in” with Seattle, and it didn’t take long to show LenDale the door either.

Mike Williams

I believe Mike Williams was with them this preseason

haven’t followed them enough to know who they’re going with.

by Long Beach on Sep 4, 2010 1:17 PM MDT up reply actions

I believe Williams is the reason TJ is no longer in Seattle.

Williams had a great preseason

He has been making a lot of plays from what I have heard

Not saying he hasn't

but cutting Housh? They finally get a number one who actually does something for them, and they get rid of him after one year? Williams, historically, will get your hopes up and then dash them.

But hey, if it gets Housh out of our division I’m not complaining.

Watching the Florida/Miami(Ohio) game

Pasch is calling it, and he thinks Leinart just lost all of his confidence, and that is part of why he didn’t play well.

Anyone else watching this game? Even though Florida is up 21-9 (although Miami is about to score) they only have 26 yards of total offense, and every snap to Brantley has been bad.

Neither a surprise

Keeping an eye on released linebackers since Brown, Baggs and Mark Washington have all been cut and Schoefield is on the injured list for a while to come. So much for high expectations with our young OLBs.

by hadrarius on Sep 4, 2010 1:04 PM MDT up reply actions

I say FB first.

We still have some OLBs to work with.

Porter, Haggans and Davis. That's it.

Schoefield is on the injured list for probably quite some time yet.

by hadrarius on Sep 4, 2010 2:18 PM MDT up reply actions

I don't know

I just have this sick feeling in my gut like there is a big storm coming or something…it’s hard to explain. I just feel like we never gave ML much of a chance in the regular season after his second year. Maybe I’ll feel a little better later…who knows, maybe DA will flourish with all his weapons on our offense? Maybe…

So Joe you doin OK? Know you gotta be takin this pretty hard

Anderson’s gonna do alot better than you think he is. Hes gonna make a few mistakes, sure, but time with Whiz and Miller will make him a much better QB than Leinart ever will be.

by Dem_Cardz on Sep 4, 2010 2:02 PM MDT up reply actions

But I absolutely hope you’re right!

I don't have a lot of faith in the guy

But I hope he does well. Best of luck to him and Leinart wherever he goes.

The Defense will lead this team

And DA will lead the NFC West with touchdowns and interceptions.

Remember no matter where you go in life...there you are!

by McCards010 on Sep 4, 2010 1:17 PM MDT reply actions

Hey as long as the td's outweigh the int's its all good

Whiz and Miller will get DA whipped into shape pretty quick . Plus he has way better receivers that can adjust to the ball, some mistakes will be made but they wont last for long

by Dem_Cardz on Sep 4, 2010 2:33 PM MDT up reply actions

QB coaches

can help clean up mistakes. They can’t work with a guy who’s not willing to make them. Now what I mean by this is Anderson has a lot of flaws but he has a lot of upside as well. Matt was to afraid to make a mistake in the preseason in fear of first losing his job then losing a chance with another team. We don’t have the kind of team that will excel with a game manager just like with Kurt we go all or nothing.

Remember no matter where you go in life...there you are!

by McCards010 on Sep 4, 2010 3:57 PM MDT up reply actions

I have to lol

At the tons of people who rushed out to buy Leinart jerseys before they ever knew if he was any good.

Hehehe

by Dem_Cardz on Sep 4, 2010 1:30 PM MDT up reply actions

"It wasn't just based on the last two weeks, but was a body of work"

so if this is true, why did we wait until 8 days before the season opener to pull the trigger….I know Matt has probably got half the group for him, and half against…. but why do we wait this long to do this?? I think we should’ve explored other options. I hope this all works out….

I’m not happy with how this whole thing was managed…

by Cardzfan on Sep 4, 2010 1:50 PM MDT reply actions

If they had cut Leinart earlier the Cardinals would have had zero QBs.

That’s not a position you would ever want to be in. I do think it’s valid to question the overall process though. Why didn’t the team pursue another QB like Donovan McNabb for instance? If they believed in Leinart it wouldn’t have made sense but under these circumstances the question legitimately raises it’s ugly head again.

praying that the Cleveland Derek Anderson doesn’t show up….. time will tell

The most amazing part of that is

That they still won the game.

it was buffalo

Browns would have had to score against themselves to lose that

That game is what I was expecting the Browns/Lions one last season to be like

Even better, make the final score 2-3.

McNabb

I never got behind the idea of trading for McNabb because I figured the Cardinals were going to give Leinart the season to prove himself. Bringing in Anderson to “push” Leinart I saw as evidence to support that theory. Now I’m curious why they had no interest in McNabb. Not that we’ll ever find out.

by hadrarius on Sep 4, 2010 3:39 PM MDT up reply actions

Exactly

this is what I don’t understand. Based on all the comments, they’re indicating it was a ‘body of work.’ If that’s true, and you knew he wasn’t the guy, why not make moves earlier. If it all works out, and I really hope it does, this will all be forgotten. I just hope we’re not still asking these questions a few months from now.

by Cardzfan on Sep 4, 2010 6:16 PM MDT up reply actions

Makes you wonder

how much friction there was between the coaching staff and front office / ownership on the subject.

by hadrarius on Sep 4, 2010 6:25 PM MDT up reply actions

That is the big question I've had from the begining of this debacle

Whiz was saying that he was happy with Leinart, then this whole “body of work” thing… Something doesn’t add up.

New Season--New Era

I was all for Leinart while he was here. I thought he was better than Anderson. But what do I know….(I’m a life long Card fan)
DA is the guy Whiz thinks can lead the team.
I BELIEVE IN HIM!!!
3rd straight division title.
GO CARDS!!!!

i read posts on here all the time i just dont post on here.
here is what i think. i think that we should of went after JASON CAMBELL instead of DA if WHIZ knew that he wasnt going to keep ML. i hope that DA does well though because i am a diehard CARDS fan and i want to see us with a 3rd straight division title. i also think that we got 2 really really good future QBs. and good that we finally got 9-0 a new contract(my favorite player). with that GO CARDS!!!!!!!!!cant wait for this season.
