Yahoo's Michael Silver Gives Ranks Bidwills As One Of NFL's Worst Owners
If you had told me five years ago that I'd be defending the Bidwills I would have thought you were crazy. That said, Michael Silver's ranking and subsequent cheap shots seem inaccurate and uncalled for. Than again maybe I'm a homer who's just drinking way too much of the Cardinal red Kool-Aid these days.
" 27. Arizona Cardinals – Bill Bidwill (Michael Bidwill): When I think back to the Cardinals’ near-victory in Super Bowl XLIII, why do I confuse it with the previous year’s game at the Cardinals’ home stadium? Ah, that’s right, because Tom Petty was the Super Bowl XLII halftime singer, and the lyrics to one of his classic songs – "Even the losers get lucky sometimes" – could have been written for the cheap, small-thinking Bidwills. For all of the talk about Matt Leinart’s failure to seize his opportunity as retired quarterback Kurt Warner’s(notes) presumed successor, remember that the Bidwills’ lowballing of the player most responsible for their first-ever NFC championship after the ’08 season led the quarterback to seriously consider the overtures of the division-rival 49ers, which would have accelerated the Cards’ current nightmare by a year. Let’s hope this week’s re-signing of defensive tackle Darnell Dockett(notes) – six months after he took shots at the franchise for its passive approach to start free agency – is a positive sign of change."

bill yea i can see that but mike nah he is a differnt type of business man
The old man train of thought is not paying his big stars money only spend the min on salary and facility and staff but make a killing off the franchise name memorabilia and fans.
The young gun says if we win we win. Let’s bring in and pay our top talent. Get a staff that knows how to find good players. Get the best out of the players, and give them a first time head coach with good credentials that the players can trust and believe what he is trying to do and start to win. Cause if we win the seats will fill up and a stadium that sits 60000 people and sells out every game it has been played in compared to the crickets we all heard at ASU and we will bring in revenue oh and bye the way win you win u save money and lots of it by not paying the crazy amount of dumb money that belongs to top 10 picks. On a side note our last 3 first round picks combined is still less then bradfords contract.
So to steal a line from field of dreams “if you build it they will come”

Seriously?
These Yahoo! Sports writers are idiots. I have never seen a good article by Trey Kerby or Dwyer (NBA) and now I am coming to find out that the NFL writers are just as ignorant? The sports section should be deleted from Yahoo. Mike Bidwill has put up major money to extend key players and also extended to of our key components… Graves and Whiz… Michael Silver, get a life, and go back to journalism school at Sacramento State or wherever the hell you came from.
Stoudemire to the 10th floor will soon be Nash to the 10th floor!
Silver’s a players’ writer and he’s talked with a lot of former Cardinal players from which he’s gotten horror stories, some of which were true and some weren’t (see the Robert Griffith story from around 3 years ago).
There’s a reason to have an anti-Bill bias, he’s been the epitome of a nepotistic crap owner, but agreed his son seems to get how to create and sustain a successful franchise.
Of course he’s going to create a minimum of a decade’s worth of success to begin to wash out the 50 odd years of crap that preceded it.
"Even the losers get lucky sometimes" is a
cheap remark. great for wowing readers, but it belittles the brilliance that the organization has demonstrated for 3 solid years. there was absolutely no luck in how the Cardinals got to that SB, they worked hard and caught fire at the right time.

a few years of success
does not equal the decades of failure. Hopefully they will keep the success going from now on, but we will see. I think now that the cards have their stadium( and the fans that came with it) they will strive to turn the cards into a consistent winner. It will take a while before the bidwills shake their reputation though.
