SB Nation Arizona Editor's Pick
Beanie Wells blows up Cedric Griffin & Kolb side note
I've been searching and searching for a video of this play, as i went nuts while watching it live (Even if we were getting our asses kicked:
"Beanie Wells came around the corner, looked at Vikings cornerback Cedric Griffin, lowered his shoulder and blew Griffin up."
The above quote is from : http://blog.azcardinals.com/2011/10/09/vikings-aftermath-3/
Beanie put Griffin on the turf and was running with rage. I thought for sure it would be on YouTube minutes after it happened, but I haven't been able to find it. I looked on NFL.com for it - didn't find it either. So I am asking if any of you guys have the game DVRed to please post it! or if you have a link to a video of it please post it.
On another note:
Kevin Kolb has lost a lot of fans and supporters, as he has looked sub par at best this season. I honestly don't see how he was worth what we gave up. The first thing I'm going to see is "Give him time" but I will tell you right now he doesn't stretch the field unless there is a wide open man streaking down field. I hear the people calling the game rave about his arm, but i have yet to see Kolb throw the ball deep down field to 1 on 1 coverage. He doesn't have a problem throwing it short into coverage, He has happy feet in the pocket, and just looks overwhelmed . Nothing I have seen screams FRANCHISE QB. I wouldn't be writing this if we hadn't traded away a pro bowler and an 2nd round pick, or gave him a superstar deal. Honestly to me he looks like a poor man's Tony Romo! Minus the ability to make plays on the fly. I have yet to see him show me he was worth half of what we are paying and paid for him.

i would say kolb is tarvaris jackson
without the wheels
Seems that Whisenhunt has made a mockery of this teams personnel
The personnel was better before he got here. It has been mediocre since. A few bright spots here and there…Washington, Dan Williams, Roberts…no one else is coming to mind. Neglecting the offensive line and a pass rusher are really haunting him right now.
The Kolb trade was silly. Hasselbeck is looking pretty good right about now. How many rookie QB’s are performing better than Kolb?
Newton and Dalton are light years ahead of Kolb. Gabbert seems to be on par with Kolb. Hopefully he can get it together soon.

Karlos Dansby, Antrel Rolle, and Anquan Boldin
Advice for Whisenhunt…
You must plan ahead, here is how. Trade your players when they actually have value, if you have no intention of signing them…Dansby. Don’t sign them to absurd contracts and then get nothing in return because you have to cut them….Rolle. Trade them to a contender during the season…Boldin. If you cannot resign a player, Dansby, then you must let him walk and then plan to not screw up the compensation value by signing overpriced FA’s….Porter.
Just saying.
You say that the personnel were better before he got here but the 3 players you mentioned played for him for 3 years
Also, the three players you mentioned were key to our 07-09 seasons and the FO was not going to let them go even if Whiz would’ve requested. The fact that you even put %100 blame on Whiz, and mention nothing about the FO shows that your irrational bias toward him.

I don't care about Whisenhunt
He or someone from that FO has put too many washed up former Steelers players on this team. If he has no influence in personnel matters, then my criticism is directed towards the FO. However, I’m under the impression that he has heavy influence over the teams personnel decisions, including the draft, since they have brought in so many former Steeler players.
The FO did let all three of those players go. Re-read my comments. Whatever short sighted decision maker made the transactions, whiffed big time on them. By letting Dansby walk and then signing Porter and some other FA’s, the personnel decision maker caused the team to not qualify for a 3rd round compensatory pick. That pick was lost by signing washed up former Steelers players. Rolle was cut, Boldin was traded? You said that the FO wouldn’t let them go, what are you talking about? All evidence points to the FO getting rid of these players and not getting much in return. That’s poor planning.
This whole scenario is unfortunate for any Cardinals fan. If it wasn’t Whisenhunt, then whoever it was, they should re-evaluate their strategy.
"You said that the FO wouldn’t let them go, what are you talking about?"
I was talking about letting them go during the 07-09 period.
But interesting view though, could very much be true which would lend credibility to the claims that the FO needs to be revamped.

+1 to you, not joking either
The respectful manor with which you discuss and debate is greatly appreciated and truly a lost art. I find that most folks are very quick to lose the point of any debate/discussion and way too quick to name call.
May your skills be learned by more, the world would be much better.
thanks, I really appreciate the nice comment
but I gotta admit that even though I try to be as civil as possible, I do get carried away at times. The communities on SBNation itself is, imo, the much more civilized and respectful then nfl.com, espn, and the rest.

To be perfectly frank
NO ONE was asking for Hasselbeck here. I once wrote a post that if considering Bulger or Hass, Hass might be the better choice, but NOBODY was clamoring for him.

Agreed
No one said Hass was our answer, but plenty said Kolb was. I have yet to see what everyone was raving about, he is a right handed Matt Leinart to me or a poor mans Tony Romo. I know my comments are a bit harsh and bit bias because i wasn’t in favor for the trade. When i look at him i just don’t see the potential? I’m not sure if thats just me, but nothing has jumped out at me when watching him play.

Difference
He now has a line to play behind. He would probably be injured by now on our team.

Kolb vs Newton / Dalton / Gabbert.
Player TD / INT Yards Rating Comp% Sacks Fumbles / Lost
Newton – 7/6 1,610 84.3 58.2% 9 2 / Lost 0
Dalton – 6/5 1,047 78.7 59.2% 10 1 / Lost 0
Gabbert – 3/2 608 71.2 49.5% 9 5 / Lost 2
Kolb ’11 – 5/6 1,281 71.2 58.7% 16 6 / Lost 3
Kolb Career – 16/20 3,363 74.6 60.1% 36 15 / Lost 8
Kolb’s Career consists of 12 starts. A total of 24 games with playing time. This is his 5th season.
Sacks and Turnovers
The two things that stand out to me about Kolb’s stats. We know part of the sacks is due to poor line play in both Arizona and Philadelphia. How much is open to debate. We know that Kolb creates his own sacks too. The fumble stats are ugly. Don’t know how many of those fumbles are sack-fumbles but I would bet most of them are. So far through five games this season Kolb is pegged for 9 turnovers. You cannot win in the nfl with that level of play.
If anyone brought up Matt Hasselback
As an answer to the QB problem, we wouldn’t laughed them off the site. The Titans got 100% lucky.

Nah, Hass
was always way underrated, he is just enjoying protection and a ground attack to lean on he hasn’t had since, Alexander, Hutchinson, and Jones…

Precisely why he wouldn't do well in Arizona.
Without quality protection Hasselbeck would be beaten to a pulp. He’s not much more than a place holder anyway. The Titans will be on the make for a QB in the draft.

Talent, potential and development.
The Cardinals have NFL talent up and down the roster.
Every Cardinal player has potential to be a pro bowler or HOF’er but they obviously lack someone capable of developing this talent to the full.
All these guys have talent, from Kolb to Fitzgerald but it is being wasted through misuse.
+1
Areas where we are lacking in talent. OLB and LT. we are pretty solid everywhere else. Our corners are young, but loaded with potential. Toler, Peterson, Jefferson, Marshall. I like what have. Just some growing pains. Wilson is not good in the pass game, but still is a beast and a good coach should be able to hide his weakness and utilize his unique talents.
Don't forget about Levi
He got burned so many times that last game I was embarrassed for him.
ITS FINALLY HERE
