Asante Samuel Anybody?
Today is the NFL trade deadline, I know this is breaking news and all, but I wanted to talk about some potential moves that the Cardinals could make. The Eagles are apparently shopping Asante Samuel and we all know that one of our major weaknesses is in the secondary. The best part I about this is that the Eagles do not want draft picks, which we cannot afford to give up. They want some veteran help in the front seven. So my question to you would be first would you do the move? and if you would, who would we give up? I am thinking that we could maybe move Porter and as funny as it would be trade the Bradley back to were we just signed him from.
@JasonLaCanfora
Eagles letting it be known that CB Asante Samuel could be had prior to the trade deadline. Not sure odds of it going down are great but...

Would you consider
trading somebody like D. Dock if we received some compensation as well? I also think that we would have to work out his contract as well.
Initial response is "hell no"
But after further consideration, even that doesn’t seem strong enough.
Why in the world would you want to give up one of our best players that we just signed to a big extension and that still has plenty of years left in the tank? You rebuild AROUND a guy like Dockett, you don’t trade him to get hit-or-miss picks or rent-a-players.

Dockett
is great, but let’s face it he is worth a lot more as a DT to a team running a 4-3 than as a DE in a 3-4

I'd be willing to surrender Dockett
so long as we get our 2nd back and a fifth.

That’s what I was getting at, the Eagles run a 4-3 and Dockett is much better in the 4-3 than he is in the 3-4. I think you nailed it, give us Asante, a 2nd and a 5th. Too late now though!!

You could
Move Carter to the end!!! He looks good and he is a small NT

Horton would not like Samuel
He wants corners who can tackle. Samuel is DRC. Porter would be a bad fit there. Don’t know if he has ever played a 4-3 in his career.
Like the Cardinals? Revenge of the Birds is where to go.
Like Arizona Sports in general? SB Nation Arizona is where you'll get it all.

Do you see Horton Lasting?
and it’s not like AJ is a guy who steps up to stop the run!!

Disagree!
Anyone bashing AJ right now gets the fist! He has a couple tackles for loss and has been generally impressive in all areas. Marshall has done pretty well and Peterson, well, he tries. Haha.
I do kind of hope Horton gets a second year. We talk about continuity all the time, how about defensive coordinator? No one can be pleased with the results to this point but difficulties were expected at the beginning.
Only think AJ can't do
is catch.

Samuel is worse at tackling than DRC
Horton would not want him.

Samuel for Porter is interesting
I initially thought “no interest”, but having Samuel around for the rest of the year as a 3rd CB if he’s willing to mentor PP and Jefferson isn’t a bad idea, if he’s cheap. Porter’s obviously gone after this year anyway, and we have to start getting Schofield and Ocho playing time. But I wouldn’t give up any other starter or a pick higher than 6th for him, which I’m sure is too low a price for the Eagles to consider.
We're stocked with CB's
PP7, AJ, Toler, and that 3rd round guy from the Steelers. Asante would cost too much and most importantly he would be horrible in this new D installed by Horton.
I voted yes
But thinking about it more, we’ve got AJ Jefferson and Patrick Peterson who are young and getting better, and Greg Toler will be back after this season. I don’t want to give up a 1st Round pick, which is what the Eagles will be wanting.
Joe Saunders: "They played a really good game, so hats off to us"
No thanks
If this was last season Id have said yes please. But as pointed out we are deep with young talent at cb, and when I say talent I really mean talent. Id say safety is a much bigger need. We have 2 30+ yr old safties, one who is seemingly getting injured more often as he ages, but is still a great player…. and the other who honestly I can’t even stand to watch play.

Wow
I am really surprised that you all think that we are deep at DB??!! We are getting lit up in the secondary from all aspects.
Injuries aside, we are deep at CB
We definitely need help at both safety positions. I think adapting to the new scheme has a lot to do with the lousy performance. Add that to a non-existent pass rush and the opposing teams can throw all over us.

that mostly falls on the rookie and safties
PP7 gets a pass but not A-Dub and the rest
