What needs to be addressed in the draft?

With each loss, and aspirations of meaningful games being played in December dwindling, i find myself looking more and more towards the upcoming NFL Draft. I know its very early, and we don't really know where we will be drafting, but come on, i need something to look forward to about this year!

Anyways, i am going to, for this FanPost (my first ever by the way) consider ourselves out of the Andrew Luck Sweepstakes, and i hope you can play by these rules. This brings me to the reason of this post: What position should we look to address with our first round draft pick? What specific player do you see as a good fit?

This topic was brought up during the Sunday Gamethread, as Joe coined it Suck for Kalil! For this FanPost i will be looking at my 3 favourite players that i think we should target in the upcoming draft, not named Luck.

Matt Kalil, OT, USC - As of right now Kalil is the highest rated Offensive Lineman in the upcoming draft. He has the potential to be a franchise Left Tackle, something we wished we had in Levi. He has all the tools you want in a Lineman, good size at 6-foot-7, 295 pounds. He has good speed, good balance, good footwork, and great strength. Overall, great athleticism. He has been coached in a very good system at USC, and in fact, was able to keep 2011 1st round draftee, Tyron Smith on the right side. Clearly he is a special talent, but i fear he may not be available when we pick

Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford - This is the players that most of the mock drafts i have read, have the Cardinals drafting. He is comparable to Kalil, at 6-foot-6 304 pounds, in most categories, with Kalil being just a slightly better athlete. The only real difference is that Martin has excellent technique, while Kalil has good technique but relies on his athletic ability to overcome any missteps. He is solid in Pass-Pro, been able to keep Andrew Luck upright, and is also a real masher in run blocking. I really like Martin as our choice if Kalil is taken.

Vontaze Burfict, LB, Arizona State - I'm a real sucker for good LB play. Explosive linebackers are probably my favourite prospects to look at. He is ideal size for a middle LB, at 6-foot-3 250 pounds, and absolute fantastic speed. My favourite aspect of Burfict's game, is his ability to quickly read the play, and then use his explosive speed to attack. I would say he is underrated in pass coverage as well, He does a good job in zone coverage, but could be exploited in man coverage due to his aggressiveness. There have been questions about his mental makeup, but he has toned-down his recklessness and i think will remain that way. I would love to see a LB core of Acho, Burfict, Washington, and Schofield. If we can't get either of the two aforementioned tackles, i would love seeing Vontaze in Cardinal red.

Anyways, thats the way i see it thus far. These three young men are excellent athletes and would love seeing them in Cardinals jerseys. Why can't we just have 3 first round draft picks and get all three of them! I hope i was able to provide some insight. What do you guys think? Do you agree with what i have said about these players? What other players are you really excited about?
