American Thanksgiving has come and gone, and now the next major holiday upcoming is Christmas . As many children do every year around this time, I am going to write my Christmas wishlist, however with one main difference. Instead of asking Santa for some new Hot Wheels, Barbies, or video games, I will be asking Santa for something that all of us at Revenge of the Birds want. So here is my personal Cardinals wishlist i will send to Santa at the North Pole:
A shiny new offensive tackle
The offensive line, and specifically offensive tackles, are likely at the top of everyone's list of Cardinals needs. We have suffered through many year of the mediocre play of Levi Brown. That is why it is imperative that we fix this problem soon, unless we want John Skelton or Kevin Kolb to be taken off the field on a stretcher. Many of us Cardinals fans have already started to look ahead to the draft to see what possible Offensive Tackles we can pick up in the first round. Depending on where we finish, we could end up with one of the top three tackles, Matt Kalil from USC, Jonathan Martin from Stanford, or Riley Rieff from Iowa. In terms of where each will likely be drafted: Kalil will go anywhere from 2-5, Martin likely between 4-10, and Rieff should go between 9-15. I see us being able to draft either Rieff or Martin, with Kalil being taken way before we have the chance. So please Santa, can you please give us one of these three tackles.
Beat San Fransisco
All of us at ROTB share at least two universal qualities (expect for you AZ Retiree), an unconditional love for the Cardinals, and an unshaking disdain for the 49ers. If there is one victory that we would all love to have, it would be against those 49ers, especially considering its a University of Phoenix Stadium. They have had our number recently beating us in 5 straight. In a season with very little hope of postseason football, protecting our house against the 49ers would at least provide a little solace in this disappointing season.
P.S. If you don't mind, could you throw in a victory this weekend against the Cowboys? Thanks
Patrick Peterson Punt Return Record
12 Weeks in to Patrick Peterson's career, and he is already regarded as the most dangerous return man not named Hester. With 4 punt return touchdowns already, Peterson has tied both the single-season rookie record, and single season record for punt return touchdowns. Other teams are already avoiding punting it to Peterson, but he is still dangerous at any time, with all four of his returns being greater than 80 yards in length. He has twice put the winning points on the board, and due to this has been instrumental in the Cardinals being 4-7 rather than 2-9. Just give him one more return touchdown, and i will be a happy camper.
Deserving Cardinal Pro-Bowlers
Yes, i am aware that the Pro-Bowl is almost entirely a popularity contest. Fans usually just vote for who gets media coverage, or who are on big market teams. The only Cards who will probably make it are Fitzgerald and Wilson. At least this season Wilson deserves it because of his play. Two very deserving Cardinals who likely won't make it are our outstanding defensive players, Calais Campbell and Daryl Washington. Campbell is rated as one of the highest DEs by Pro Football Focus, and we all know how well Washington has played. If there is some justice in the Pro Bowl voting, these two players should make the team. I doubt it though...maybe next year.
Well that about does it for my Christmas wishlist. Hopefully I've been a good boy this year and Santa gets me all these things. I wasn't going to go over-board a demand 2011 playoffs, or Peyton Manning, or what have you, i was trying to make it somewhat realistic. Anyways, what do you guys think? What's on your Cardinals Wishlist? Don't forget to mail it to Santa soon!
