End Of Year Awards...(pre-mature much?)
I am going to assume that Detroit is going to win one of the next two games now that GB has lost. So that being said:
I think Arizona is going to finish the season at 9-7 or 8-8 (who knows if there is nothing to play for in Seattle game as we will know by then if we can get into the playoffs). What a wonderful ending to a season no matter what happens, here are my awards (on Cardinals only):
Coach Of The Year: Ray Horton - I mean come on it took a while to get it but quite honestly If we keep this defense together we may win a couple Super Bowls no matter what the offence is able to produce.
Rookie of the Year: This is tough. Of corse PP is probably going to be the answer but the way Sam Acho has played this year has made that argument much tougher. And on that point Anthony Sherman has been plowing the road all year for Benie Wells, We saw a sharp drop off in those games that he wasn't blocking for him while he is not running the ball i would make a case for him as well. (I give all around props to this years draft class, Lets get Ryan Williams back to complete the draft)
DPOY: Calais Campbell - Easy choice, did everything he was asked to do, Sacks, consistent pressure, and freakish ability to block FG's makes this man easily our DPOY. (side note to Rod Graves: PAY THE MAN) Now If it were me there would be consideration for Paris Lenon while he hasn't done anything spectacular he has been a rock all year providing quality play.
OPOY: Chris "Benie" Wells - This was a tough choice really. I chose Wells over Larry Fitzgerald for two reasons. 1) Larry is a phenomenal player with great athletic talents and i expected these types of numbers out of him every year, maybe that's wrong of me but it is what it is plus I think he was under utilized this year for half the year.. 2) He has given our offense toughness, big play threat, and overall in the first time in 20 years in the valley a legitimate run threat. He played hurt and brought the pain to linebackers every single game. I don't know stats but I would bet that he didn't lose yards 10 times this year running the ball which is great to have a back confidently gain yardage even if its a tough 1 or 2 yards on a crappy play. 2 & 8 is 10 times better than 2 & 12. His average is 4.2 YPC and only has 4 total fumbles (lost 2) which is a great improvement on ball handling.
QBNY (Quarter Back Next Year): Here is my deal with Quarterback position. John Skelton played great... Skelton also played crappy. (our streak would be at 7 straight wins if not for Skelton's worst game he has ever played). I think John Skelton is the starting QB in 2014 hands down. Now that being said. Kevin Kolb Needs to start next year because we still have no friggen clue what we have in him because I believe he played well enough to earn at least a 3-4 record this year in his starts (not including the second SF Game he had 3 plays) because the defense couldn't stop Baltimore offense that sucks, and a giants team that is average and quite honestly play calling was bad in both games.
Draft Needs: Ironically our draft needs are almost exactly the same as last year OL/DE.... Simple as that. What I will say to Wiz is dont reach. If a great ILB drops to us and their is a run on OL dont reach take best available. Look what it did for this year. You can find value in the 3rd and 4th round for a solid LT take him there. In fact I would rather have linemen in the 3rd or 4th round usually means they have athletic ability but need to be trained. Now if their is a deal out there and a OL drops from top 10 pick to our pick I will probably throw a ball at my new tv if you don't take him breaking my brand new tv and i will come to the Tempe training facility asking for a new one.

Fitz is the face of the franchise and soul of the team.
He is also our only bona fide superstar. What we have is a whole bunch of young guys improving, and it seems like a different supporting player (Heap this week) steps up and delivers each game. I go with Fitz because he is simply ALWAYS excellent. DD gets a nod for doing the little things, even though he won’t have the stats, and CC gets a nod for really stepping up his game this year
Im not sure what you are getting at....
I have seen DE this year. Lets be honest half the year we had beaten up old guys and the other have green rookies doing the job. While they have done a fine job I don’t rank them as great or even close to player of the year anything. I think Washington and CC and 90 is having far superior years to anyone that is a DE.
If you are talking about draft needs. Im not saying we need to draft a DE in the first round or even the first day (or two days if they do the draft in three days again, I HATE IT THAT WAY BTW) but a depth choice more of a run stopper would be ideal. I think we need one because porter is gone, and I think haggans is gone after next year. Also I love O’Schofield but he tore his knee up a couple years ago and i worry about it happening again.
Im sorry...
No OLB was the draft choice… When I was playing in HS we played a 5-2 or a different version of 3-4 defense and we call the OLB a DE and the three down linemen were NT and DT Sorry about that… Yes OLB we need OLB im not looking to replace 90 and CC sorry for the confusion.
Sherman gets my vote as rookie of the year,
Beanie does a heck of a lot better with him in the lineup, and PP has done great on ST, but he needs to become the great corner he was drafted to be.

I consider Punt Returns Part of Defense stats....
If you take away Punt returns then PP has just been good this year. Now I think He has vastly improved CB from game one and two to Game 14 & 15 which wiz never would of put him in that position if he didn’t have to. He may not have Int to show for it but im guessing he is covering their number one receiver so if he is making the QB look somewhere else to throw the ball then that is just as well.
Peterson gets ROY on breaking the punt return for TD record alone.
Horton and Campbell are easy choices.
You would lose your bet on Beanie. He has been stopped for a loss many times this season. He could have had an outstanding season if not for the injury and there lies the problem with Beanie. He is proving to be injury prone. I’d say Fitz for OPOY. 17.8 yards per catch is terrific. He’s far lower than anyone would like with only 65 catches through 14 games and still over 1100 yards.
QBNY will be Kolb, at least to start. If the Cardinals do manage to squeek into the playoffs then it depends on what happens there. Skelton could take control there. I think they’ll be happy going into next year with both of them regardless of how this season ends though.
nfl.com has stats on rushes for a loss
If you go into each game you can find them under the rushing stats. They don’t break them down there by individual player though, just by team. Surely one of the more advanced stat sites would have it per player but I couldn’t say which one off hand.
Peterson has only tied it,
and besides we drafted him far too high to just get an amazing PR

Peterson has tied it for number
but all four of his were for over 80 yards which is a record and why the HOF wanted his shoes.
First off this isn't premature (since there are only 2 games remaining (regular season))
Ray Horton is not a player so he is void from my vote by default (but I will say he is a HUGE reason we are where we are). Anyways my vote is sort of split between Daryl and CC.
Daryl gets some love here because he is continuing to establish himself in this league as an elite player at his position. He still has plenty of room to grow but I am not afraid to say that he may be our best player on defense. CC is up there as well because of what he has accomplished this season. I was never high on CC until this season (where he is making me eat so much crow) and I am always happy to do that for a good cause! CC has dominated offensive lines and is a force in not only rushing the passer but in the run game as well. He is helping our line become maybe the best of any 3-4 team in the league.

Cardinals, Suns, D-backs for life!
I agree completely....
I think he has done an amazing job behind a average (at best) offensive line. And sometimes a stacked box because people want to make our qb beat them. Giving the Cardinals a viable running threat this year makes them an 8-8 or 9-7 If beanie wasnt running well or gave the defense something to think about I think we are looking at 6 wins maybe less. No run game = 7 in the box = harder to pass = fitz covered more = more interceptions = more defense on the field = more losses. SIMPLE MATH PEOPLE… good day to you sir!
