Kolb better...

Throw to Fitz! I felt like prior to his injury he just kept overlooking Fitz, and we have all seen that many times even double coverage can't stop Larry Fitzgerald from snatching a pass out of the air.

In the last four games, with John Skelton starting, Fitz has 4 TDs. That is double his total for the 8 games prior and still one more if you include preseason. That is just ridiculous. I admit, I am Fantasy Football guy, so stats definitely bug me(although I have don't have Fitz on my team and definitely don't have Kevin Kolb on my team). Fitz has a total of 17 receptions in these last four games, compared to 34 in the 8 games prior, so he is getting the same amount of touches.

Kolb needs to be more confident with his #1 receiver, one that most QBs and HCs would give their right nut for... I mean, I think I even recall hearing about these two working out together during the lockout, so shouldn't he be most comfortable with Fitz?

In his 8 starts this season, Kolb threw 8 TDs, and only two to Fitz. Skelton has thrown for 4 TDs and 3 went to Fitz!!! (note: Fitzgerald's 4th TD in the last four games came from Richard Bartel in the game against the Niners).

What do you all think? Am I just being or Fitz homer?

Kolb distributed the ball more than Skelton did.

Kolb was smarter with his decisions than Skelton. I agree that Kolb should find Fitz more but at the same time he needs to be smart and not throw the passes that Skelton threw to Fitz.

Kolb better show improvement

he’s on a short leash

A break?

What excuses are you aiming for? He should have made HUGE strides in the mental part of his game having nothing to do but bury his head in the playbook.

Kolb isn't on a leash at all

He’s the starter and will remain so whether he throws to Fitz or not.

Your probably right

I just want to win!!!

You are a Fitz homer.

Who cares how many touchdowns Fitz gets? Are you getting a check every time he scores? What do you think Fitz would be happier with;

A) Scoring more touchdowns while losing more games

or

B) Scoring less touchdowns while winning more games?

by hadrarius on Dec 3, 2011 9:07 PM MST reply actions

Mmmm B?

That’s right, right? I’m never good on Pop Quizzes.

by Alex Mann on Dec 3, 2011 9:10 PM MST up reply actions

Honestly, it's the secret answer - C.

More touchdowns while winning more games. But that would have been too obvious, hence why it’s not listed.

by hadrarius on Dec 3, 2011 9:19 PM MST up reply actions

I'm with you, I want to see more catches/yards/touchdowns to Fitz

But I don’t want Kolb to force it to Fitz. Skelton tended to do that sometimes.

I’m all for more touchdowns to Fitz and Doucet (I have them on my fantasy teams, so maybe that’s why).

by Skii on Dec 3, 2011 9:50 PM MST reply actions

yea, you'd always like to see your best playmaker get the ball as much as possible

but you also don’t want to force something that isn’t there. Too often young inexperienced/unconfident QB’s try to rely too much on one guy and end up forcing balls into double coverage instead of actually surveying the field and finding the open receiver.

Just look at the absolute best offenses in the league. It’s hard to find a true, far and away #1 WR on teams like New England or Green Bay or New Orleans and it’s not because they don’t have great recievers, it’s because their QB’s don’t force the ball when they don’t have to. More often than not, they are finding the open reciever, regardless of the name on the back of his jersey. (not saying that any recievers on those teams are comparable to Fitz but you know what I mean).

Bet big, win big...Welcome to Arizona Kevin Kolb!!!

good point

those teams may have a #1 reciever is regards of skill. GB-Jennings, NO-Colston, NE-Gronk but they spread the ball around so well. The good players put up better numbers not because they are being locked onto, but because their skill gets team open

Kolb better....

Win, don’t care if it’s butt ugly or in dominating fashion, so long as our record says 5-7 and not 4-8

Fitz has been getting plenty of targets from both guys

They are just missing him.

He also has the highest YPC of his career right now, so even though his catches are down at least he is getting plenty of big plays out of those catches.

Agree

I also think it’ll take Kolb time to get comfortable with the coverage of Fitz. He’s usually doubled any how. Once he settles in, this could all change.

BTW, I feel like Kolb played better in the pocket, scrambled away from defenders and had a little more poise. What about you guys?

Sorry folks, park's closed. Moose out front shoulda told ya.

I think

The playcalling helped him bigtime. maybe they took a tip from the Broncos and decided to play to his strengths.

but again he beat Dallas in December,

let’s not get too excited just yet, the guy you love to hate on also beat Dallas in December last year, but didn’t need the head coach to ice his own kicker.

that was a great game last year

Very exciting at the end. I thought we were done, but Skelton pulls the game out of his ass and finally get the ball to Larry! what a great christmas game!

No, but the Dallas kicker missing an extra point helped.

Kolb is an average at best QB...

at least so far. Is he better than Skelton? Duh? He’s been in the league “training” far longer, has more snaps. I’m glad we won and that Kolb had a good game but really isn’t this the minimum we expected? Skelton will develop and baring serious injury and getting those mid-range passes into the hands instead over the heads of recievers Skelton is the future. When?

Cowboys have big problems!

1) Garrett outcoaches himself.
2) Witten has alligator arms.
3) Jones has alligator arms and is visually impaired.
4) Bailey may be mentally impaired and begin to think he hears the sound of whistles just before he makes contact with the ball.
