Robert Quinn and Von Miller are two of the main Linebackers who have been connected to the Cardinals as possible draft picks this year. After being highly touted prospects, neither of them disappointed during their workouts at the Combine. Notes from their workouts, and highlight videos after the jump.
Quinn went first, some people thought that he got off to a slow start and he ran a 4.70 in the 40 which was a slower time than people expected from him (Mike Mayock thought he would run a 4.50) even though it is still impressive for someone his size (6'4", 265 pounds). He also had a 34" vertical leap, 9'8" broad jump, and a 7.13 in the three cone drill. Overall though, he is getting very favorable reviews. His footwork was criticized a little bit during some of the drills, but he hasn't played in over a year so you expect him to be a little raw, and he showed all of the physical ability that is needed for him to transition to being an Outside Linebacker in a 3-4 Defense or a Defensive End in the 4-3 Defense.
Miller went up a little bit later, and in the 40 yard dash he ran a 4.53 (It was at 4.46 after his first run unofficial time) which amazed the guys on the NFL.com feed, and he has actually put on nine pounds since the Senior Bowl (currently 6'3" and 246 pounds). He also had a 37 inch vertical and a 10'6" broad jump (best among all the Linebackers) along with a 6.70 in the three cone drill. He was also getting a lot of praise from Steve Mariucci on the NFL.com feed for his leadership abilities and being a hard worker. He was described as being a little bit raw and erratic in some of the drills that were meant to test his pass coverage abilities, but in the pass rushing drills he was highly praised.
Both of these guys did nothing to hurt their already high draft stock. They probably won't make it out of the top 10 picks in the Draft, and the Cardinals would instantly upgrade their Linebackers corps with either one of these guys from what I have seen.
