2011 NFL Draft: An Interview With Von Miller On NFL Network's Total Access

Photo

I think it is well documented here at RotB that I am a huge fan of Texas A&M linebacker Von Miller and would nothing more than for him to be selected by the Arizona Cardinals with the fifth pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. He was featured on Total Access Tuesday afternoon on the NFL Network. He is currently listed as the number one linebacker in the draft by Mike Mayock.

Here's what he had to say on the show (after the jump, of course)

Star-divide

What do you think that draft night is going to be like?

"I'll probably pass out. I'm been thinking about this all my life and dreaming about it all my life...We'll just have to see what happens this April"

What was your thought process going into the combine and did you expect to perform as well as you did?

"We all expected to do pretty well at the combine. When it happened, it was just a true blessing."

What do you think some of the difficulties are going to be for you transitioning (from playing defensive end in college to playing outside linebacker in the NFL)?

"Probably just more responsibilities, like dropping into coverage, a lot of reads and a lot of coverages they throw at you in the NFL...I think I'm well prepared for all of those, though."

What are you going to be doing now up until draft time?

"March 9th next week (I have a pro day). I get to be with all my teammates again, be back in Aggieland and be back home."

What NFL linebacker would you say your style of play is most similar to?

"I really like the way Clay Matthews and Derrick Thomas play. Those guys are a little bit bigger than me, but I like the way those guys play."

What is it about Clay Matthews that you believe is similar to your style?

"Just his frenetic effort to the ball. No matter how long the play is going, he's going to be chasing the ball. It's full-speed, relentless effort."

Did you have any situations in college where you were asked to drop back in zone or pass coverage?

"This year I dropped back into coverage about 40 percent of the time, so I got a little bit of experience with it this year. My sophomore year I played will linebacker (on the weakside). We had a lot of pass coverage responsibilities."

Who is the one NFL quarterback you want to sack the most?

"Hopefully I can get them all. I want to get all 32."

I hope we get him

But more and more I’m thinking the Bills are going to take him. Too bad I already have my hopes up…

Me too

I was thinking Denver, as well, but they’re going back to a 4-3. I saw Buffalo going DT or DE on a few different mocks on NFL Network, which also makes sense. I think they’ll stick with Fitzpatrick at QB given the quality defensive players available.
