Cards QB of the future?????

It's not a secret that the Cardinals need a quarterback and need one as soon as they are allowed to pursue him. I know we are linked to Marc Bulger and Kevin Kolb, and although I like the idea of Kolb I would be weary to give up high draft choices given the state of our football team. Marc Bulger has not played for over a year and is getting to the end of his 30's and I know I know Warner did it but lets face it Marc Bulger is not Kurt Warner! So, I suggest that we roll up our sleeves and go get Vince Young, yes it will be some work and you will have to keep a leash on him but there is no denying that the guy is a winner. He not only won in college but he has also won in the NFL, the guy is a talent and he is young(no pun intended). We need to keep Larry and he wants his QB and he wants him now. I can see Larry taking Vince under his wing and showing him how Arizona can be a great place to play with out a ton of media pressure. Make sure the kid takes a cab when he goes out and keeps his eye on the prize and this could be one of the best QB to WR tandems in the NFL instantly. We concentrate on drafting D and OL and we are right back as the NFC West Champs. Take a flyer on the guy, he doesn’t cost you draft picks(or to guarantee it give up one of our 6th rounder’s) and this keeps Larry happy!!!

No thanks.

all he has going for him is he is young. He is a head case, and his stats don’t impress. I’d rather start Skelton as he has more upside

by Will Smith on Apr 21, 2011 11:02 AM MDT reply actions

Agreed

Young had one of the best Olines in the NFL and besides he ends up in Dallas…I would gladly take Romo though

by Cardsfan928 on Apr 21, 2011 5:50 PM MDT up reply actions

Upside? Yes

But Jeff Fisher is as solid a coach in the league as there is. He couldn’t make it work there. Can’t imagine his getting along with Whiz. He already has a reputation for being tough on QBs. Not for the faint of mind.

Like the Cardinals? Revenge of the Birds is where to go.
Like Arizona Sports in general? SB Nation Arizona is where you'll get it all.

by Jess Root on Apr 21, 2011 3:56 PM MDT reply actions

Not happening

Whiz would never take a guy like this on.

Also...

As Bulger’s time in St. Louis progressed the pieces of the championship team were disappearing….My take is if we can’t get Bulger then we ride with Skelton

by Cardsfan928 on Apr 21, 2011 5:52 PM MDT reply actions

Im not opposed to it

but only because we have Fitzgerald… Young is a headcase, but he had no receivers… Fisher is an average coach at best… He is immensly talented and while I am no fan of his, i am also not a hater… I just see a guy in need of a change of scenery and some positive influence… he’s still young and as physically giften as anyone, and he had a pretty good win/loss record and completion % with those subpar receivers… His interceptions have gone down every year so he doesnt really turn the ball over.. And he has the ability to make every pass.

by Flanpaw42 on Apr 21, 2011 6:23 PM MDT reply actions

True..

but are you telling me we have better o-line and rb’s than st. louis?? Minus Larry they were still rocking Issac Bruce and Torey Holt at the time bulger was there so receiver wise pretty close!!

by Nick Thoreson on Apr 21, 2011 6:25 PM MDT reply actions

Dont forget

The gold standard of O Tackles…Orlando Pace…who like Walter jones final seasons were injury riddled and ineffective….The Rams didn’t star losing because they couldn’t score they lost because they had a horrendous defense..London Fletcher is one name that comes to mind

John Skelton

Chicago Cubs - Arizona Cardinals 167 combined years and no rings
I guess I'm a masochist

by TBru on Apr 21, 2011 8:52 PM MDT reply actions

The only way we're getting Andrew Luck

If if we tank next season. You really want that?

by Skii on Apr 21, 2011 11:35 PM MDT up reply actions

throw Skelton in day one

if he succeeds we have a great young qb. if he flops we get Luck. win win

by CardsDefense on Apr 22, 2011 8:08 AM MDT up reply actions

Hey remember who's QB won the SB and SB MVP?!

And when did Skelton beat the Packers? Warner isn’t “your” QB anymore! Quite living in the past…

You've been Stroh'd™!!!

by Strohman on Apr 23, 2011 11:17 AM MDT up reply actions

Allow me to defend by using knowledge of the English language.

“Hey, remember when our QB spanked yours?”

Ok first he starts off by saying remember when… This is a common phrase to recalling previous events that occurred in the past. Also he said spanked, which is past-tense. Meaning he isn’t referring to our current QB’s(Skelton) but a previous one. Its obvious that Warner isn’t our QB anymore and thats aside from the point completely.

Also you yourself use the argument “Quite living in the past” which is a very good one. But the sentence of your response is “Hey remember who’s QB won the SB and SB MVP?!”. This in itself is a previous event and is also considered in the past because that season is over.

In summary, the reaction was a very poor one and looks rushed. Its hypocritical, and seems to be fueled with more rage than logic. If this was the case than Cardsfan achieved the desired result. Think before you type.

OLD NEWS!!!

NFL = Not For Long Quite living in the past… I’m trying to stay civil and just talk Cards, but all you guys wanna do is start arguments! You keep bringing up my Pack, so yeah I’m going to defend them! Throwing a playoff loss from 2 years ago in my face is only going to start an argument that doesn’t need to be started! And that isn’t why I comment here…

You've been Stroh'd™!!!

That would've been good to use last off season

Their QB made up for it by winning them a Super Bowl.

by CanadianCard on Apr 24, 2011 5:30 PM MDT up reply actions

It was one year ago...

and Warner was a league MVP as well….but as far as staying civil and just talk Cards…I’ll go for the civil but you hardly just talk Cards

by Cardsfan928 on Apr 23, 2011 2:10 PM MDT reply actions

Warner question:

When he gets inducted into the HoF, he’ll be inducted as a Ram, right? I hate that, but he did win a Superbowl with them.

Even more reasons why I’ll never forgive the 4th Quarter Ref’s during Superbowl 43.

by Skii on Apr 23, 2011 3:09 PM MDT up reply actions

HOF induction

You don’t get inducted into the NFL HOF as a player of any franchise… Just as a player. This isn’t baseball.

What about the Franchise....

HoF’s? You’ve been to UofP the entire terrace level will be filled eventually

by Cardsfan928 on Apr 23, 2011 9:28 PM MDT up reply actions

No clue what your saying.

UofP? Whats that? Haven’t been to Canton myself, but everything I’ve been told its about players and not the teams they are associated with.

OK

AS far as I know the Packers are the only team w/ an actual HOF… Been there, and from what I hear its better than Canton.

by Cardsfan928 on Apr 26, 2011 6:49 AM MDT up reply actions

I did get warned...

you give us cardinals fans a bad name… I cant believe someone actually went off and cried home and told on me. lol this is great. and I think me saying you are a slang word for a penis I was absolutely right… is telling someone they are a slang word for a vagina wrong???

by the12thCard on Apr 26, 2011 4:57 PM MDT up reply actions

Here at ROTB, we like to keep things classy

So bad language isn’t exactly looked upon nicely (Unless, of course, we’re down 40 points in the 4th Quarter. Yes, I’m looking at you, San Diego).

Just limit the language, and we can all go back to enjoying football.

by Skii on Apr 26, 2011 7:02 PM MDT up reply actions   1 recs

Or when Derek Anderson misses a wide open Stephen Williams on what would have been a 50 yard Touchdown earlier in that game

Yeah, there are many more examples, but that is just the first one that comes to my mind.

Maybe when Maximus missed Larry on a deep throw in Seattle can go here too.

it's less about the language..

more about calling other members names. That’s all. Yes, avoid language, but no personal attacks on other members.
