Jess Root note: I am thrilled to have had a representative from ROTB to do this draft. Not an easy task to actually try and be a GM. I encourage all to chime in and make it a debate. Write up your own FanPost to explain whom you would select for one or all the rounds. You might get yourself features on the front page. The full mock draft is complete. Check it out as well.
This weekend, I took part in SBNation's own mockingthedraft.com "Live" Mock Draft as our Arizona Cardinals representative. Here are the results from that draft:
To make things easier, I'll post the picks I made for our Cardinals:
Round 1: Robert Quinn, OLB (UNC) - Another "worst case scenario" for the #5 pick, with Von Miller, Gabbert, and Peterson being taken within the 1st 4 picks. I think Quinn is our best bet in that situation. Feel free to voice your disagreements..
Round 2: Danny Watkins, OG (Baylor) - Start working on the make over of our terrible O-Line.
Round 3: Brandon Burton, CB (Utah) - Good CB with great value in the 3rd round to help the secondary.
Round 4: Joseph Barksdale, OT (LSU) - May be a bit of a project o-tackle, but he's got the frame and raw skills to be an elite one.
Round 5: Alex Wujciak, ILB (Maryland) - Old school type football player with great instincts in the middle of the defense.
Round 6: Julius Thomas, TE (Oregon St.) - Yet another late round TE, hopefully this one makes more of a difference.
Willie Smith, OT (East Carolina) - More big bodies for the OL.
Round 7: Derrick Locke, RB (Kentucky) - Trying for a Hyphen 2.0 here..
So what do you guys think? Did I cover the most pertinent needs with the right amount of value? Discuss!
