As we know, Memorial Day is a day set aside to remember those who have given their lives in the service of their country. As Cardinals fans, we are proud to actually have a former player who did just that -- Pat Tillman. I hope we all find the time to ponder the meaning of this day as there have been so very many dedicated men and women who have given their lives for the cause of freedom, to allow us to live the way of life we have.
With that being said, as football fans, this is a time of year when there are actually football activities going on. This time last year, the team was in the middle of OTAs and here on ROTB we were predicting the possible outcomes of the 2010 schedule.
Oh how times have changed. On this Memorial Day, we have a raging debate about quarterbacks, but no real quarterback to lead the team. There is a lockout that keeps all transactions from occurring. There are court cases that may or may not stop the lockout, but there is no negotiating going on.
Perhaps the one positive to it all is that with little to worry about in the world of football, we can actually pay attention to the meaning of this holiday. It is more than just a day off of work or the first weekend after school is out for the kids. It actually represents something bigger than all of us.
