Seattle pulling out of Kolb race & Orton/Hasselbeck still being available is crushing the Eagles leverage w/ the Cards. Who else wants him?

Strongest possibilities for Kyle orton look like Miami or Tenn. Hasselbeck also in play for both.
If the Cards want to keep the leverage they have they'd better get a deal done for Kolb before Orton comes off the board.

You would think
That the Cards FO would have learned by now that you find a guy to help in all aspects of the game, not just a blocking *&^%$# TE. That’s like bringing Beanie into the game, we all knew that was a running play cause Wells sucked at picking up the blitz. Miller/Heap/Boss, all of them can catch and block.
Someone do me a favor and send me an e-mail when the Cards get serious.
Just a guy, because I was born that way.
Follow my tweeting @de_veau
All of those TEs
Are much more expensive though. I would think that Whisenhunt, being a former TE himself, knows what he wants in a TE.
Besides, he probably wants you to think that. If he brings in a blocking TE like King, you’d imagine they’re running right? The defense lines up for a run play and BAM you hit em with a play action play.
by Tyler Nickel on Jul 26, 2011 7:58 PM MDT up reply actions
Sure they cost $
That’s part of being aggressive. And if they are just bringing him into the game as a smoke screen to fool a D, then Dray works just as well. For my aggressive $, which I wasn’t going to spend on a TE to begin with as the OL and QB spot needs as much aggressive $ as can be had, I would have preferred someone who isn’t a one trick pony.
Just a guy, because I was born that way.

From Rotoworld
NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora suggested on Total Access Tuesday night that Kevin Kolb may end up back with the Eagles because his market has softened over the pasts 48 hours.
The Eagles lost an enormous amount of leverage when Seattle decided to settle on Tarvaris Jackson as its likely new starter. Arizona’s trade proposal may have since dropped. Per La Canfora, it isn’t out of the question that Kolb will now return as “insurance” for Michael Vick as the Eagles prepare to make a Super Bowl run. The Cardinals would likely then target Kyle Orton.

Then don’t sell, Cards move elsewhere.
We are truly going to see if the Eagles want to keep Kolb around for another year after they have made it clear all offseason he was going elsewhere.
BTW My point was this, you are never going to sell a slightly “superior Product” for a larger price, if there is only one customer and there are some “inferior” products available for a lessor price. Either the “Superior Product” drops in price to match the lower price, or the consumer moves on.
I remember you now
You are the guy who thinks the bengals will trade Palmer at some point in time as well.
The NFL just doesn’t work that way – you are leaving out the ego factor – Reid has a price he will let Kolb go for which is too high – Cards need to move on now.

#Eagles want a 1st-round pick AND Rodgers-Cromartie? That’s absurd. #Cardinals need to pull the trigger on Orton immediately if not sooner.
And after hearing Miami is interested in him for a 3rd or 4th, I'd say offer a 3rd and 5th and end it
Good things take time.
And this deal is going to take time, and for whatever QB comes it, it is not going to be some miracle fix that turns a team with an inept offense and the 30ths ranked defense into a 10-6 division winner overnight,
I disagree
Losing a QB took our offense from juggernaut to punchless overnight, I don’t see why adding another good QB wouldn’t reverse this overnight. =P
Faith Focus Finish
Personally I would prefer to offer a straight 2nd over a 3rd and 5th becasue I beleive the value that is there in a late round draft pick can really put teams over the top in terms of good to great.
Absolutely just pull the trigger Cards.

According to Tim Ring of 3TV News in Phoenix, the Eagles are trying to “squeeze” the Cardinals for a first-round pick and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in exchange for Kevin Kolb.
It’s an absurd return for an unproven QB with several question marks. We find it borderline unfathomable for Arizona to meet that asking price when they could get Kyle Orton for a fraction of that cost. The Cardinals need to call Philadelphia’s bluff, as the latter no longer has any leverage.
Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Phoenix Suns/Chicago Bears fan [I have always lived in Arizona, dad is from Chicago].
Pretty much what I was saying above re: Supply and Demand.
Philly has no other suitors for Kolb, they have two options, Lower the price and trade him to AZ or keep him for this year and then Tag him.
They're doing the whole you sleep while I drive thing.
Hopefully they don’t pull a dumb and dumber and end up in Las Vegas instead of Aspen
They won't be sleeping in the next 3 days
by Drullin'OverDaCards on Jul 26, 2011 9:55 PM MDT up reply actions
They will sleep, it will be for and hour here and hour there, but one of Rod or Ken will alwyas be awake and if something concrete comes up both will be involved.
Making these kinds of decisions sleep will be imperative.
If Graves and Whiz agree to this deal they are risking thier futures on Kolb
Can’t beleive they will go this far.

Somers seems to think Eagles will cave, but DRC and 2nd is still a bad deal
@kentsomers Kent Somers
My guess, Eagles give in and deal is done soonRT @ChrisCrane27: @kentsomers Do the Cardinals give in or do the Eagles let up?
IF the Cards fold
I will be very disappointed. It would be like being on the wrong end of Madden trade.

If they trade for Kolb period they are doing that. Whis specifically.
If he trades for Kolb and Kolb fails the perception of the ability of Whis to judge the talent of a QB falls off the map.
I am not as high on DRC as most
so I think I would cut Graves and whiz some slack if it was a straight up trade – but not with DRC plus a 2nd – Kolb would have to be a franchise qb for me to say this was a good deal.

If I was in the position of Rod Graves. I am sitting in my Chair making sure I have a great view of Mike Miller and John Skelton working hard in the film room while in one hand talking the the Broncos about Orton and in the other trying to convice the Bengals that parting with Palmer for a 2nd round pick is far better than letting him retire, especailly as the only place the Cards will ever see the Bengals is in the Superbowl and once every four years.

It was a Sal Palentonio report at like 445 today on phillys sports radio 97.5 the fanatic. Sal said the following:
I spoke with coach Ken Whizenhunt who said the Cardinals would not overpay for Kevin Kolb, he made it clear the Cardinals would not give up a 1st or its equivalent for Kolb. Roger Cromartie being a first round pick only a few years ago would be considered a 1st round equivalent.
He went on to report our interest in Orton, it was on the mike missanelli show, ill look to see if i can find it.

@ShawnZobel_DHQ Shawn Zobel
The top two teams taking QB’s in my 2012 mock draft before today: SF and WASH. That stays with Seattle entering the mix after today
I have actually wondered what would happen if Luck changed his mind and came out
After the draft but before a new union is certified there is a bit of a legal black hole – he could have filed his own antitrust suit alleging he should be able to sign a contract with the highest bidder, the whole draft violated anti-trust law etc. and almost surely would have won. As a UDFA the cap would not have applied to him in any event. Not happening, but interesting to think about.

From Sando
The Arizona Cardinals appear in strong position as they consider options at quarterback. The way they sat back and projected patience Tuesday is looking like a smart approach. I can’t think of another team likely to trade for Philadelphia’s Kevin Kolb. The Cardinals should be in no rush. Teams cannot sign players or visit with free agents from other teams until Friday. Kolb could not practice with them until Aug. 4 if Arizona acquired him and signed him to a new contract. Even if Kolb is the Cardinals’ top choice, the team might be wise to play up interest in other candidates. Why not seek permission to meet with Kyle Orton? Why not bring in Matt Hasselbeck? There’s no reason for Arizona to overpay for Kolb unless another team emerges as a serious suitor.
I have a feeling
We’re going to get Orton, Considering Arizona wanted Bulger last season and Orton is better than Bulger it just makes sense. Sure Kolb has upside but so does Skelton! Win games now with Orton and continue grooming Skelton for later, this was the plan last year except it was suppose to be Bulger.

Sounds like we might have signed Calais’ brother Jared, a Safety (mainly a special teamer) out of University of Miami. From what I’ve found, coming out of high school he was actually expected to be the most talented of all the Campbell brothers. Couldn’t hurt to keep him on the practice squad and/or depth for special teams coverage, if for no other reason than to make Calais happy so that he’ll be reasonable when it comes to new contract demands?
