Cardinals trade Tim Hightower to Washington
Looks like we have the odd man out in this crowded backfield. The fumble issues probably sealed it.
Adam Schefter:Arizona is trading RB Tim Hightower to Washington for a conditional late-round pick based on play time, along with DE Vonnie Holliday.

Peace.
I’ll always remember your break out run against the Saints in the playoffs with fond memories. Hopefully he does well. I really liked hightower, but I liked beanie more.
Sorry folks, park's closed. Moose out front shoulda told ya.
+1
I completely agree “I really liked hightower, but I liked beanie more.”
me three...
Despite his injury issues, I think the new tandem of Beanie, LRSH, and Williams works quite well. Beanie will be the bruiser, Williams will be change of pace, and Stevens-Howling will be the wicked-fast pass-catching back Kolb likes. I’m sad to see Hightower go too, but sometimes, there’s addition by subtraction…

Thanks Hightower....
For a sixth round pick… we got out of him what we could. We Got depth at DE and basically his draft pick spot back in next years draft. I will remember the saints game and then remember the 3 losses last year because of crappy fumbles. (HOLD ON TO THE BALL)
I liked Timmy too
But with Ryan Williams coming in, someone had to go. Maybe Williams will get number 34 now.
Looks like the draft pick is a 6th rounder too.

Let us all begin the new naming of our running backs!!!!

Throw LaRod Stephens-Howling, Beanie Wells, and Ryan Williams into a blender
and see what you get

It would be easier if Ryan Williams' name wasn't so vanilla

I'm thinking Williams will be the new
Fast Willie, I only expect 3 super productive seasons from him.
Vonnie Holliday?? Wow!!
If you don't have anything good to say about the Cards this season, you'd be correct.

You know what
I used to be able to tell you who was on what team. But with all these insane moves because of the short FA period. I can barely tell you who’s on our team.
Sorry folks, park's closed. Moose out front shoulda told ya.
Its amazing how much the roster has changed over the last couple of years.

I know.
I’m trying to sit back and name most of our roster over the last couple seasons and I keep missing players that aren’t with us.
Sorry folks, park's closed. Moose out front shoulda told ya.
it is crazy
but as long as Fitz, A-Dub, and Dockett are here, then they’re still the same Cardinals that I cheer for.

They are about the only ones who are still here

sad to see Tim go
despite his fumbling problems. He will forever be, the guy who made the play that got into the Superbowl.
We’re definately being aggressive in the FA and trade market though.
Our roster is way improved from last year.
GO CARDS!!!
Good Luck Timmy!
No more night. I have seen the light. Let it shine on bright.
HANG HIM HIGHER!!!

I'll always remember Timmy for getting us to the Super Bowl
But with Ryan Williams coming in, this was a smart move. Vonnie Holliday will ad some nice depth to the DL!
We all bleed Cardinal Red, but most of us don't recognize it!

Redskins just got a good player.
If he can get a handle on the fumbling problem he will be a boon to that team.
Now Mr. Williams, you may have
Your number 34! Go fricken Cards!
I will miss both Breaston and Hightower. Two dudes with great heart and work ethic. I will root for them as individuals.

hightower.
love the way he played. tough shoulder doen. but he fumbled. whiz is giving this years team a new make over. i see a passing team with LSH getting more time on 3rd down and beanie carring the load. williams will be a change a pace. im excited to see them put up points.
Braylon Edwards is A CARDINAL
I think it’s official. Braylon Edwards is a CARDINAL. He just tweeted Jay Feely about a 10 minutes ago. I’m guessing the deal doesn’t become official until tomorrow.
Here’s his quote
@jayfeely I love hit weather.
I think he means HOT…LOL

Reported Deal
A tweet from All Sports Intell suggest the deal is 2 year 4 – 4.5 Million/year.
Still just a rumor...
It’s not official till Adam Schefter confirms it.

Have
never seen the Cardinals get this much going in FA. They have found a QB, dumped unproductive players, found new starters for the OLine, added depth for defense, and some play makers on offense. I think last season upset this organization and they are not going to let another season slip by this year.
Almost
They’re saying deal done tomorrow, low money and short term.
That will be AWESOME
Section 103, Row 19
GOOD RIDDINS
TO MANY FUMBLES…LIKE WELLS AND WILLIAMS COMBO WITH A LITTLE HOWLING THROWN IN!!
I don't like the move...
personally I think it signals a move to continue the passing attack at all costs. With King/Heap – I’d like to think we’d be looking at something like the two TE sets that NE has been running – but Hightower makes more sense there in terms in protection/pass-catching (yes, I saw the article relating to Wells v Hightower in protection).
My thought is they’re headed full steam towards another 60-65% passing year – with Edwards possibly being signed being confirmation.
If Edwards is really signed – why on earth would they make the same mistake twice – like Anderson, look at what he did in Cleveland – just terrible. An you want to grab onto this based on what he managed in NY last year? Seriously? That said, Doucet has been consistently injured and Roberts isn’t log for the league, IMHO – so I guess maybe it makes sense. I’d like to see Williams develop into something, but it’s night and day between pre-season and real games with him it seems.
If Hightower was shopping his services as a RFA
he would certainly continue to look for a new team as an UFA next season. All three of those guys want to get the ball. Something had to give and fumble issues aside Hightower was still the guy in the contract situation to get the boot.
I agree that there is little prospect that the team goes to a run based offense, as much as people keep wanting or expecting it to happen. As far as Edwards in Cleveland, his quarterback was Anderson. We got a close up of that bag of nasty. He did much better in NY. He can stretch the field too and gives us another veteran. If Fitz gets hurt who is going to come close to taking his place that is currently on the roster?
Agree that we needed another WR...
but Edwards isn’t the answer – I’ve seen a number of beautiful passes thrown his way that were inexplicably dropped. Plus there is a ton of drama associated with him – they could have found someone better IMHO – Breaston and Floyd being top of the list or working a trade for Thomas who didn’t do much in Denver last year – perhaps as part of a larger deal for Orton.
Would have prefered Floyd myself.
Not going to complain about Edwards though. Never expected them to do this much.
NE style offense sounds good

Wow Cards!!!
Some damn fine moves this offseason!
Now I have to get Sundays off even if the Pack isn’t on cause the Cards are going to be as exciting as they were in ’08!

Do we still
get the cont. 2nd round pick for Hightower if we trade him? or was that only if he was signed by another team?
Only if they signed him, we would be given their 2nd round pick
Since he signed here and was traded we’ll only get the 6th rounder and the player.
Section 103, Row 19
lol, no shit?
Nobody was giving up a 2nd rounder for Hightower.
i told you guys
we would be aggressive after everything died down
this is a bad loss.
Tim Hightower is better than Wells and will have a better season than him this year. book it.

If better season = more fumbles
Then I would agree. As long as Beanie stays healthy, he’s definitely a better fit for this new, seemingly more physical offense. Timmy just happened to be the odd man out, and seems happy to get a shot in DC, which is close to his alma mater, Richmond.
Faith Focus Finish
A little competition might light that fire under Beanies hind end....
that Hightower couldn’t. I think Beanie can be that dynamic back if they incorporated him into the offense more and focused on the run more. They just didn’t seem interested in it last year (maybe because of trust…. the turnovers) and seemed to want to force a passing game they just couldn’t execute with the QB.

I have never seen anything in Wells. Don't get the love for the guy.
Hightower would at least bust off some huge runs now and then. So he fumbled too much. Big deal.
