Who Will Replace Ryan Williams For The Arizona Cardinals?
Well with that horrible horrible injury to Ryan Williams, we need to think of someone who can be a good stop-gap replacement. The question is, however who should it be?
Now I will throw a couple of names in this poll here and give stats as well to see who can we get in whats left of free agency.....
Rush Yards Rush TDs Rec Yards Rec TDs Fum Lost
Brian Westbrook: 6,335 41 3,940 30 12 9
9 seasons UFA SF He seems like he can get the job done here this one is one of my favorites to nab as of now.
Clinton Portis: 9,923 75 2,018 5 26 19
9 seasons UFA WASH For me this guy is a little too old and he is a fumbler not to mention that his REC TD is low for that many yards.
Julius Jones: 5,068 22 1,029 2 13 9
7 seasons UFA NO He has not been in the NFL for too long but he looks like he has some still left in the tank.
Joeseph Addai: 4,020 38 1,355 9 6 5
6 seasons UFA IND Now I don't know if Indianapolis will sign him back but for being in the NFL for 6 years this seems like a good snag, but yet again I don't know if he is resigned yet.
Dominic Rhodes: 3,286 26 1,025 4 16 14
9 seasons UFA IND Now this ones is a bit of a bad choice for a starter but not a backup, since we are getting backups his stats don't look to bad besides the fumbles of course...
LenDale White: 2,349 24 204 0 7 7
6 seasons Released DEN Now he is not a good choice but he won't cost us one bit, so do we go with him for a third/ fourth string? I don't know.

Ton of RB's
that go undrafted now, no need to sign any big names, if anything see if Wright can be coaxed out of retirement.
westbrook
Doesn’t fumble. Great pass blocker and receiver out of the backfield. At least gives us a third down back. used in a very limited role, I think he could be a very nice addition to our backfield. 1 year veteran minimum contract. plus, He has some familiarity with an Andy Reid offense and could help Kolb out. maybe they could even run some of those nasty screens that the eagles run. that might work since we finally have a guard who can pull (colledge) unlike porkchop, Lu"to much food’ ti, or hadnox.
my thoughts were
He knows Kolb he is a great third down option plus he knows how to catch when he is in the west coast offense he would need to….
Well about last season.....

We don't run an Andy Reid offense.
And if you didn’t notice Beanie was pretty slick in the screen pass he caught against Green Bay. Westbrook would be my choice from among those listed, but I’m disinclined to choose any of them.
Every one of those names is a big "MEH" in my book
I’d wait and see who gets cut as the preseason winds down. I guarantee they’ll be someone better than this cast of has-beens.
Bet big, win big...Welcome to Arizona Kevin Kolb!!!

Hearing Tashard Choice will be cut
He would be the best option available IMO. I’m not 100% sure Alphonso Smith can’t fill the role for the year.
We all bleed Cardinal Red, but most of us don't recognize it!

I think the answer is already on our roster...
Alfonso Smith and the Shermanator!

I think you're right.
Would like to see Smith get chances against first and second team players to solidify my confidence first. I can see the Cards keeping both Sherman and Maui’a rather than picking up another runningback, or even using the extra spot on a tight end. Smith is the only one that would fill the role of back up to Beanie though. Stephens-Howling is a different type of back altogether.
Great point
We’ve been debating if the team keeps 4 TE’s or 6 WR’s. Maybe both now…

Agree
I would rather the Cards check Smith out first in the pre-season against the first and second team.
If he is a option it would be interesting to see if the Cards can extend his contract with only this year guaranteed at min salary. Thus if he decent we can keep him beyond this year if needed else even trade him and get a draft pick or another player in the next off season.
I think giving Sherman some carries
would be great for the O specifically in I formations
No doubt
out of all our rookies the Shermanator has been all over the screen, you telling me he wouldn’t be good for 4 yards every time.

Tashard would put on top with Jerome Harrison and maybe dimitri nance from green bay if he gets cut

Give Alfonso Smith a shot
And if he doesn’t pan out, go get Tashard Choice if he gets cut.
What about Tiki?
… sorry.. i wasn’t serious.. but couldn’t resist :) Ha Ha
Not only did this change the dynamic for the Cards, but also for NFL teams
who were thinking about stashing a guy or hiding a guy on the PS. Now, they have to re-think everything knowing the Cards will be scouting every potential RB to get cut…
I don’t think we need a ‘name’ guy, but I do think we need some additional help for Beanie, LSH, and Smith….
We need a speed back already have power in beanie

Bolt would be a better wideout.
Ok so when the ball gets snapped, you run to the other end of the field as fast as you can.
I guarantee no one else will be there as quickly. You guys think he can catch?

A lot of NFL players
Have said he’d make a good football player, considering 6-5 and the fastest man on Earth.
I agree K.S. would be a good option but in all truth I think the Cards go with Alfonso. I like it I do.

The Hyphen
He is more quick than fast. Makes him great in space but lacks top end speed that is required to get around the corner.
I just wonder why the hell
They run him up the middle so much

While we are at it...
I think Magnus van Magnussen would be an excellent OG.

I think we should get Westbrook. And if the Niners are actually thinking about trading Gore and the price isn’t to big I’d go for him. They’re both good guys, solid runners, good blocking. Westbrook knows Kolb and knows how Kolb plays. Although Gore would be a somewhat bad idea cause we need someone till Williams gets back soo I’d go with Westbrook.
No chance the 49ers would trade him within the division
And no chance the Cards give up the pick that SF would want for him

Speaking of the supplemental draft
http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2011-08-16/supplemental-draft-lacks-nfl-impact-talent
Couple guys might be worth a look for us, but it’s tough to say if we’ll bother.
WHY ARE WE YELLING?!
By the way… I have a story going up at 5 AM about this very topic

What have we learned the last few years
after 30 a RBs best days are behind him. Smith, a PS guy or someone who just missed making a 53 man roster will be a better option than any has bens.
Chicago Cubs - Arizona Cardinals 168 combined years and no rings
I guess I'm a masochist
Agreed
can anyone say Arian Foster? Even when he’s punished by his coach and has to sit out the game, he gets one carry in the game and rips off I believe a 60 yard TD run?
