Birdseed’ Early Doucet wearing a #85, looks bigger in is upper body, playing in the slot, has caught everything thrown in his direction.
Hope he stays healthy
Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Phoenix Suns/Chicago Bears fan [I have always lived in Arizona, dad is from Chicago].
I like this
Early, if healthy, can be a force as a number 2 or slot guy. I loved him at LSU and had very high hopes for him on the Cards. If he stays healthy, and Roberts develops as much as some are suggesting, we could have a strong WR corps to go with a pretty solid TE group.
We all bleed Cardinal Red, but most of us don't recognize it!

Good move by 49ers getting DS Donte Whitner. Wouldnt have touched Braylon Edwards. lacks “gold standard” 49ers seek.

Cardinals FB Anthony Sherman is a collision waiting to happen. Rookie looking good.
I'm very happy to hear this
I thought he was a good pickup in terms of what we are looking to do with in our run game.

Rookie DE David Carter landing punches in brawl with OL Tom Pestock. Carter slugged Pestock in back with roundhouse. Camp can begin now.

Adrian Wilson and Daryn Colledge also got acquainted. No fight, but Colledge was aggressive with downfield blocking on screen.
Wilson's gotta love that
In the heat of the practice, I’m sure it pissed him off, but afterward he should appreciate Colledge playing til the whistle

First team O scores 3 times in 4 goal line situations. Only fail was Kolb-Beanie fumbled handoff

Ryan Williams stoned on first down. Second down Williams bulls in and then lets defenders know. (And williams sweeps in easy on next play)
Rival report: Niners
Matt Williamson
Killed #49ers for free agency, but adding Whitner & Braylon moves them up to a C grade…maybe C+…Edwards could flourish
A C or C+ --- What the hell are you smoking Williamson? The '9er's haven't done jack.

Matt Roth
CardschatterDarren Urban
I know some have asked about Roth RT @ProFootballTalk: LB/DE Matt Roth is drawing interest from N.O., Denver and Cards, per league source.
mikejureckiMike Jurecki
Re Roth 6’4 275 DE/OLB rotation guy can play on special teams. http://bit.ly/qgGTS8 @JS_Marshall: who is Matt Roth? Starter material?
Per Rotoworld/Profootballltalk on twitter
The Saints, Broncos, and Cardinals are all showing interest in free agent OLB Matt Roth.
Roth has been adamant about not playing in a 4-3 defense, which would seem to rule out New Orleans and Denver. (Barring a change of heart, of course.) Roth would make a lot more sense in Arizona if the Cardinals hadn’t kept Joey Porter. Perhaps the Cards would reconsider Porter’s fate if they acquired Roth.
Would love to see the Cards bring him in.
"The point is, by my standards, I won fair and square."
-Bender
Not expecting a move until Fitz has his contract.
If Roth is signed it may not be Porter getting the heave though. May be just a fringe player like Obiozor, or if anyone of account, Haggans.
Belichick was looking at him,
I wouldn’t mind having him.

#Birdseed Rumors are Baltimore is trying to convince Malcom Floyd to sign w/ Ravens, link to story re Ravens. http://sbn.to/qPXc2p
I want a burner down the field
I don’t know much about Floyd or Cotchery. Which one is the best combination of speed and hands?
"When life gives you lemons, I say f**k the lemons and bail."
I doubt he'd sign with the Cards
He turned down a one-year 4mil offer from the Bears. Appears to be looking to sign with a team that he thinks will make it to the SB or retire if that doesn’t happen.
Competition at center isn't what the Cardinals need right now.
If Olin Kreutz hadn’t put out that he was considering retirement I might be of a different opinion. Why bring him on for a short time though? Does not seem like someone who would settle for sitting on the bench.
Question for anyone who has been to the camp practices.
Someone mentioned (I think Jurecki) that in 11 on 11 the defense was running some 2 down linemen with the rest of the front seven standing up, milling around. Anyone know who the two down linemen were? I’m assuming Dan Williams and guessing Darnell Dockett, with Calais Campbell standing up.

i agree--no need for another WR

This RT @kentsomers: Cardinals won’t be despondent if they don’t sign a No. 2. They think Andre Roberts can handle it. Signing Heap helps 2

we have a lot of depth at wr and Te
I’m hoping we run alot of 2 Te/2Wr sets
With King and Heap as blockers—we could run and then play action to Fitz on those 17/20 yard crosses.

Now that we have two quality tight ends has Whis finally decided the Cardinals should run the ball more?

Anyone hear about Fitzgerald Sr sayiong Larry wants to play for the Vikings?
heard it on am 620 this morning… Hopefully its just daddy trying to get son more money fodder… But I have a bad feeling that if the deal doesn’t get done before the start of regular season that it may actually hold water. I get wanting to play “at home”, but after his time here, I would hope that Phoenix would feel “like home”…
I'm going to take Fitz's word on wanting to stay with the Cards and not his dad's.
"The point is, by my standards, I won fair and square."

me too, but....
if he doesn’t sign prior to the season, it makes me nervous. all I’m sayin’.
What's in Minn?
Better QB situation? Better young players? Better coaching? Better ownership?
I think Cardinals of 2011 are a pretty competitive franchise.

Thats the team Fitzgerald grew up a fan as.
He was a ball boy there when Randy Moss was there.
It Fitz would wanna play anywhere, Vikings would be the last place
Fitz would wanna be on a SB contending team, not one that’s currently rebuilding.
my comment was based off of what his father siad in an interview.
not saying i agree, just saying its weird that he said it at all.
Man, you beat me to it
That’s all the news I had. So, is a vet coming in to be the Cards #2 totally out of the question now?
Just a guy, because I was born that way.
The only other available name is Steve Smith.
There was a rumor about him possibly coming here. I don’t know how reputable the source was. He’s coming off microfracture surgery so he would miss the first couple of weeks.
That really puts him back a bit
Because he will have missed out and practices as well. That might not be a pick up in the Cards best interests.
Just a guy, because I was born that way.
There's been a lot of chatter the past month that the Cards are perfectly happy with Doucet and Roberts...
…guess it’s true.
apparently...
especially with the deals Floyd and Edwards signed (very affordable)…
It's looking like maybe Doucet at slot and Roberts at #2?
Doucet would make a formidable slot guy, and Roberts was finally coming on last year toward the end. The talent might actually be there. We’ll see…..
I have a feeling that Heap/King combined will put up #2 receiver numbers...
I should say I would be shocked if it happened considering that the past several years combined of TE production probably do not equal one year of a solid #2’s… but with Heap’s ability, coupled with the sweeping changes the Cards desperately needed to make on offense, I just have a feeling that we can expect a lot more from that position.
I always felt the Cards under-utilized TE's
I agree and hope to see some action from them this year.
WalterFootball 2010 draft scouting report on Andre Roberts:
“Don’t ask me why Andre Roberts isn’t a shoe-in for the second round – I have no idea – he should be. Roberts possesses a lot of talent and should be a very productive receiver in a West Coast offense at the next level. Roberts is exactly what you look for as a No. 2 receiver because he’s extremely reliable, competitive and maximizes Y.A.C. Roberts was easily the best receiver at the Senior Bowl and he followed that up with a great Combine. Obviously, playing against inferior competition in college isn’t a major concern. Some team will get a steal in the third round. Roberts is my No. 5 rated receiver in the 2010 NFL Draft.”
That's a nice read
I’m excited about for our offense, they are much improved.
by Jesse Reynolds on Aug 5, 2011 6:05 PM MDT up reply actions
and here I thought they were crazy for picking this guy up in the 3rd...
I kinda had the same feeling when they called out Housler this year. But I guess the Cards have picked some gems in the 3rd round (ie DD) so I should maybe hold judgment until years later and pretend that I knew the whole time how the pick was going to turn out:)
I'm probably being a complete homer but I think we as Cards fans are in for a very special surprise this year. SB VLVI Champs!!!
Too much?

I just have to say I didn't realize the impact of Heap until today. Wow! I saw him today and the blocking -- the blocking let alone his skills as a reciever instantly made me see a Pro Bowler. Amazed.

Adrian Wilson hurt
Cardschatter Darren Urban
Because of A Wilson injury RT @kentsomers: Cardinals re-signing S Matt Ware, pending a physical.
Kent Somers
Cardinals won’t know about Wilsons injury until tonight, maybe Sunday. Fear prob is torn muscle, hope is that he can play soon
Cardschatter Darren Urban
Whiz said S Adrian Wilson having MRI on elbow/bicep. More info Monday.
Wilson getting hurt is bad news.
There isn’t anyone at safety that can step into a starting spot that I’m comfortable with. Johnson apparently isn’t playing at a level to secure the #3 role. Not a good thing at all.
Yes it is. I'm hoping for the best.
But as a precaution, are there any FA safeties left on the market?
Just a guy, because I was born that way.
Wait, the Taylor Mays thing
Time to swing a trade.
Just a guy, because I was born that way.
Taylor Mays is not going to replace Adrian Wilson.
I’m not opposed to picking him up but he would be at the bottom of the stack. Matt Ware is by far the best choice to bring in at this juncture. Keeping an eye on the waiver wire would be a good idea to see who crops up.
Well I think it's time to see
What Rashad Johnson can do, forget Matt Ware.
Ware is just there for depth.
If he was anything else he would have already been with the team. He’s someone they can plug in immediately because of his familiarity with the team. When they know more about the injury they can move on from there.
words of encouragment from the man himself
adrian_wilson24 Adrian Wilson
Cardinal Fans just be patient and believe in the impossible.. #teamwilson I will never give up on this TEAM ever!!!
Does anyone know
how overweight Dan Williams was?
334 lbs.
I think they said it was less about his weight coming in, and more about the level of his conditioning.
Faith Focus Finish
S Andrew Rich calls it quits
Dang it, that was the guy I was looking forward to seeing on the field, too.
Adrian has torn biceps tendon, says he will be back by Week 1 of reg season
Seems a bit optimistic to me, considering the injury…

Lee Evans
Jurecki reporting we have interest in Buffalo WR Lee Evans.
If he still has burner speed, yes do it.
Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Phoenix Suns/Chicago Bears fan [I have always lived in Arizona, dad is from Chicago].
One person over at the Bills fan site said they would want Levi and a 3rd --- Whaaaaa? A 5th or 6th round pick at best would be fair.
"The point is, by my standards, I won fair and square."
-Bender
I know everyone except for me (on this site) hates Levi
But we can’t trade him. Even if he does suck (i disagree)—he’s still our starting left tackle. He is infinately more important than a # 2 wr, if Evens if even a #2. I like Roberts and Ducet better anyway.
No more night. I have seen the light. Let it shine on bright.

Agreed -- That's why I said just a 5th or 6th round pick at best for Evans. Levi is very valuable to the team there's no way Cards trade him for Evans.
"The point is, by my standards, I won fair and square."
-Bender
No way they trade a starting tackle for a rotational receiver anyway.
Just a Bills’ fan overestimating the value of one of their players.

When I see Derek Anderson throw a pass, I am reminded of why a big arm isn’t the most important thing for a QB.
Sounds like Matty Boi is having a good camp
Per Rotoworld
Texans backup QB Matt Leinart has looked “outstanding” in training camp, according to the Houston Chronicle’s John McClain.
“He’s made perfect throws on deep routes, slant routes and fade routes,” said McClain. “The coaches love him.” We’ve seen glowing reports of Leinart’s camp work several times now. It looks like he could flirt with high-end QB2 value in a high-scoring offense should Matt Schaub go down with an injury.
The Texans play next monday on ESPN, so it will be interesting to see how well he really does in that game.
Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Phoenix Suns/Chicago Bears fan [I have always lived in Arizona, dad is from Chicago].
Leinart could be a good QB
He was cut because he wasn’t the leader this team needed. The offense did not respond well to him, nor was he that hard of a worker. Maybe getting cut and being replaced by DA has lit a fire under his ass.

Change of scenery might have helped him too
Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Phoenix Suns/Chicago Bears fan [I have always lived in Arizona, dad is from Chicago].
I've always thought he could be good...
truth is, his rookie season was really not that bad. It was passable for a rookie on a bad team, and had he had consistent playing time over the next few years, who knows if he would’ve improved… Obviously Warner was the better choice, and I’m not saying I’d prefer’d Leinart, just wish he would’ve been given a reasonable shot last year. Whats the worst that could’ve happened, the Cards go 5-11? Atleast we would’ve known what the Cards had at the position with Matty, now we are all just left wondering “what-if”.
I'm hoping to see him start a full season somewhere
Just so I can see if he can be a good starter or not. As a way of seeing if we made the right choice.

I believe we're both on board in thinking he can be a good starter. I still don't quite understand last year and his cutting. That's life and now it's the Kolb era and I am excited to see him play.
