Key Injuries
Well it looks like we were jinxed. In two days we have lost both Adrian Wilson and Michael Adams to injury. Adrian Wilson has a bicep tear and is likely to miss most if not all of the season, while Michael Adams is getting surgery on his knee. This leaves us rather depleted in the secondary. Without out Adams the starting line up would probably be Marshall, Peterson, Toler, and Jefferson. I like what Jefferson has to offer but like Peterson he has to prove himself in preseason. Luckily there is nothing big on the offensive side of the ball.

Jefferson looked really good in camp
He covered an array of WRs, including Fitz and picked off Kolb once as well. He should suffice as a 4th corner on this team.
Safety might need to be replaced via FA, but let’s look internally first.
Too early to say. Need to wait on the results.
Adams is expected back by the regular season. He could be relegated to the #5 CB. His injury is not nearly as impactful as Wilson’s. With regard to Wilson’s injury we first have to see how badly injured he is and how long recovery will be. Second, we have to get a good evaluation of Rashad Johnson with the starting unit. Third, we have to consider the cap with regard to who we can bring in through free agency, which means Fitz’s contract plays into this as well. If Wilson is on the PUP list he still counts toward the cap number.
Let's not jump to conclusions about A-dub's injury
@PaulCalvisi:
Adrian Wilson Update: Multiple sources tell me non-surgical option exists where AW could rehab & still play most of season.
Based on the fact that A-dub injured his bicep/elbow in drills, and not in high intensity contact, makes me believe that he simply pulled the muscle (partial tear). The biceps muscle is a very strong muscle (especially when looking at someone like A-dub), and would be very difficult to completely tear unless it happened with the muscle at maximum tension in a high impact moment. Calvisi’s tweet would lead me to believe that it is simply a pulled muscle, and can be rehabbed. Based on my professional opinion (i’m a physical therapist), I’d probably say 4-6 weeks, 8 weeks being the long estimate.

I'm also an optomist
And that would be excellent news. A-dub plays the game with heart, all the time.
However, I believe the Cards would do well to invest in his successor soon, so that person will have time to learn behind a great.
Just a guy, because I was born that way.
Rashad Johnson is supposed to be that successor.
If the best situation results in Wilson missing the first 2-4 regular season games we will get a good look at him.
I thought RJ was a FS, not a SS.
If you don't have anything good to say about the Cards this season, you'd be correct.

I'm optimistic
Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Phoenix Suns/Chicago Bears fan [I have always lived in Arizona, dad is from Chicago].
Question for b0rd3rline
Regardless of whether its a pulled or partially torn muscle, if it’s wrapped tightly, or casted, would A-Dub be able to play based on his pain tolerance? I think his threshold would be higher than the average guy. It doesn’t affect his legs (obviously). Maybe he wouldn’t be able to wrap up and tackle with proper form..but honestly he doesn’t do that now..(along with most NFLers, don’t wrap up properly) .
No more night. I have seen the light. Let it shine on bright.

Could someone do that? Probably.
Would it be smart? Probably not. A “pull” or “strain/sprain” of the muscle is actually a partial tear of the muscle tendon, which causes weakness and of course pain. If you put a partially torn tendon through high level activity, you put it at risk for completing the tear.
The absolutely best course of action for this injury is to rest and ice it, while progressing a strengthening program to catch the muscle strength back up with the level of activity he needs to perform. The biggest thing to keep in mind, is regardless of what treatment you give him, the body still needs to heal itself, and that ALWAYS takes time. No need to rush it and make a almost harmless injury into a big time chronic injury..

These injuries just put that much more pressure on Kolb to perform
Our dbs are now decimated with DRC gone and these injuries – we may get lit up. Our offense is going to need to put points on the board. I have a bad feeling about how this is coming together.
Injries really hurt the Cards because of a lack of depth at most positions.

It definitely hurts Horton's schemes to lose the threat of Wilson
But he’s going to have to have the young guys step up. Just like in Pitt when Polomalu went down. They still played well. Though I am worried about depth, hopefully they find a 5th CB.
Section 103, Row 19
Even with a new scheme, Wilson is not one I am worried about missing time
As long as he comes back healthy, he’ll make an impact. Might be a good chance to see what some of the new guys can do.
