Settings On ROTB Page (Addressing Some Reader Feedback)

The other day you may remember that I created a survey for the readers to complete. Thank you to those that responded. I have gotten some good feedback.

I wish to address a couple of things that I noted from comments in the survey, as they are things I don't even have to change.

One was that of the readability of the site on wide monitors. You can actually change the page layout a bit, based on the monitor you have. At the upper right of the page, you will see something like this:

Readability_medium

(I had to use anther site because what shows up for me is a little different than what you see.) But note the "View" options. "Narrow" optimizes the site layout for 1024-width monitors, while "wide" does so for 1280-wide monitors. It makes a difference.

The other thing I noted was that there was some concern about posts getting pushed off the front page with the frequency of posts that we write. While we can write less, but that is something that we feel is not as good for the site. Instead, let me direct you to know how you can view more posts on the front page. Go to the top of the page and click on your profile. Then go to "Edit Account and Settings." Down about half the page you will see this:

Adding_more_posts_to_page_medium

You can change the number of front page posts to up to 50. For those that frequent the site less often (once a week, once every couple or few days), pick a larger number. That way you never lose anything.

Also, you may have noticed our end of the week posts called "ROTB Week in Review." I will write up a digest post on each Sunday evening so that the stories that were written over the previous week are all listed in one post.

Go ahead and give this some recs if you would so this can stay at the top of the sidebar for a while.

Thanks! I hope this helps at least a few readers.
