I consider this season as a season of what could of been. Just one win could of been the difference this year and we had lots of opportunities to win this year with this team. Losses to Redskins, Giants, and Ravens come to mind. I remember thinking at the beginning of the year that If the cardinals didn't make the playoffs that this would of been a waste of a year. Their was no changing my mind two ways about it, their was enought talent to win the NFC West with this team.
So I changed my mind... go figure. I have a couple reasons why:
1) at 1-6 earlier in the year none of us knew why we were so bad, some people say bad qb, some people say no training camp. I said at the time our defense cant stop anybody. The way they played the second half of the season I am a full believer if we had full ota and training camps we would of been minimum 3-4 in the beginning of the season.
2) I expected the Cardinals to go 9-7 and win the west. No one in their right mind would of said at the beginning of the season that SF was going to go 13-3 and Win the west. We all thought .500 was going to win it. The fact that they went 8-8 after starting 1-6 when a team could of just given up is great to see.
3) At the beginning of the season i thought Kevin Kolb was good for 3 more wins and Ray Horton was good for one more (hence the feeling they were going 9-7 (vs 5-11). I guess I should of given Ray Horton more credit Its amazing to see a defensive coordinator that knows how to bring the pain and blitz until the qb cant get up anymore.. (and then blitz the back up).
I love the way this team is going.... And I have to give Wiz his kudos. All he has done is come to AZ and had 4 out of 5 non losing seasons on a franchise that had one in the 25 years before that. I no longer feel the despair that I had in sun devil stadium (okay maybe a little last year but that was Derak Andersons fault) but overall I think we took a huge step forward this year, would I like to be in the playoffs yea but in my eyes we did enough to win. SF just played out their asses.
