Either way -- fans or fair weather fans -- this is down right wrong. It's a game after all no matter how much you love your team you don't threaten someones life and/or their family's lives. This makes me hate the '9er's more than I already did.

These are some of the reasons on why I can’t stand most 9ers fans. IT IS A GAME PEOPLE….. Stop expecting championships like that and move on. How can you tell someone you hope they die over having a bad game. At least his teammates have his back.

They are below the fans of the Raiders and Chargers. I would say Philly too but at least they are loyal to their team.

than death threats. But maybe those were from Giants fans.

I do think that many niners fans have been permanently spoiled by the unprecedented success they had in the 80’s/90’s. Back then it seemed like every time the niners made the playoffs they went on to win the Super Bowl. So even though this was the first time in 8 years they’ve even qualified for the playoffs, the expectation that they should go all the way is still ingrained in their fans.

Who cares?

The fact that people sink to that level is just dumb. Even if it is over the internet. I fully believe it has a lot to do with this being a 49ers team as opposed to some other team where fans expectations aren’t through the roof.

That’s why I joked that the supportive twitters were probably from Giants fans.

Niners fans are like spoiled brats that throw irrational tantrums when they don’t get their way. Hence the ridiculous death threats towards one of their own players.

I remember I was reading an NFL draft message board the day we drafted Patrick Peterson and there was a post by a niners fan saying “I hate the Cardinals!! WE were supposed to get Patrick Peterson! They didn’t need him and took him just to #@$% us!!” It was like he really believed Patrick Peterson was the niners’ God-given right to draft. The nickname “whiners” is richly deserved.
