Arizona Cardinals Re-Open Talks With Todd Haley
Former Kansas City Chiefs HC met again with Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt and general manager Rod Graves about the open coaching position. Jason La Canfora first broke the news earlier today.
Talks with Haley broke down after offensive coordinating jobs opened up elsewhere in the league. Arizona then interviewed former Oakland Raiders HC Hue Jackson and former Pittsburgh Steelers OC Bruce Arians. It seems that Haley is the man the Cardinals are courting heavily seeing as they have waited to hire someone else, and have only interviewed two other people that we know of. My own personal opinion is that Haley is the man the Cardinals bring in. He knows this team and has built a strong relationship with these players and coaches. It seems this time around, with no other big time positions open, unless the Giants fire their OC, he will come to Arizona.
If this indeed does happen it will be interesting to see how Haley does with Kolb and Skelton. I'm not starting a QB controversy, or stating which QB I prefer, but I think Haley and Kolb will bash heads a few times, but they'll make out their differences and Haley will turn Kolb into our QB. Skelton has the talent and skill set, but he deserves to start, or play elsewhere in the league.
On another note, Beanie Wells is going under the knife. It appears to be a minor surgery and won't effect his return for next season.

Alex Mann?
Haley wont choose the QB. If he wants to be demoted to QB coach and be under Miller & Whiz, then he wont make those tuff choices. He will do what he is told. This is the hang up and why he is looking else where. If he does come in, it wont be on him if the wrong choices are made at QB. He may be brought in as QB coach and if things go south, he may see himself as the Interm-Head-Coach with the best shot at the next HC of the Cards.
On the flip side, if things go well and who ever is QB does great, he can hang his coat on that and look for his next OC possition. The question is, does he want to take that step back at this stage in his carreer?
Your artical does not take what is best for Haley. Though you state that this is the job he wants. I dont think he looks at it that way. I would think that the Cards may be his first choice of QB coach possitions, but he would rather be OC anywhere in the NFL or an HC on a BCS team.
Sorry if it sounded like that, but what I was trying to get across is exactly what you said. No team has hired himk to be an OC, or their HC
And with only 2 teams left to make possible changes that won’t likely change. And we don’t know what position he will be filling. As of now we can only guess he will be our QB Coach. Grimm hasn’t become our Assistant Head Coach like he’s been in years past, and maybe they’re waiting for Haley to resign to give him that position. Although I have no room to argue for the BCS team, but as of now, I don’t believe teams are searching for coaches. So what Arizona is giving him is currently his best choice.
Is it all basically about his title??
He could be hired as QB coach and help call plays or coach just like Russ Grimm does as our OL/ Assistant head coach.
Or Haley could come in with the title assistant head coach or assistant OC and still coach the QBs.
Its not just “your qb coach all your gonna do is coach QBs”
Tough place for Mike Miller
If he has an offensive minded head coach and two assistants with extra responsibility. What’s left for the OC?
We are red, we are white, we are Danish Dynamite!
people are getting way to deep into
Perceived responsibilities. Fact of the matter is nobody outside of the organization knows exactly what our coaches do, or what task each individual coach is or will be delegated with in the future.
All we know is what we think we know.
And I think adding another great coaching mind into the pool that we have now would be good for our team no matter what. It’s not like these are toddlers fighting for their favorite toy. They are professionals and will work together, collectively, as a team, to give us the best possible chance to win.

Jackson is
a better fit for this team. Both are a little whacked but Jackson has a better tempered IMHO
