2012 NFL Mock Draft: Arizona Cardinals Get OT...Or Not In Latest Projections
The Senior Bowl is coming up this weekend. It is the most notable event right now going on with the NFL Draft. Nonetheless, the mock draft projections keep coming. As the Arizona Cardinals pick at number 13, they will have a number of ways they could go, but the most coveted prospects at key positions will likely already be off the board. However, with multiple needs, there should be a solid choice of talented players from which to choose.
Our own ROTB mock draft projected a bit of a surprise in Whitney Mercilus, an OLB from Illinois. But what about some of the latest mocks?
Over at SB Nation, the Arizona Cardinals will land an offensive lineman -- Ohio State's Mike Adams.
On Adams:
I mocked Adams pretty high last week, and nothing got me more hate mail. I can take it. I think his stock will get a big boost this week in Mobile at the Senior Bowl. Arizona needs all kinds of help along their front five.
Over at CBS Sports, though, Rob Rang has Arizona snagging receiver Kendall Wright:
The Cardinals surprised many when they stuck to their board and took cornerback Patrick Peterson with the fifth pick overall last April when they had bigger areas of need. Similarly, if there were a pass rusher or offensive tackle worthy of consideration here the Cardinals would obviously be interested but with none of value available, Arizona could be forced to look at alternative options. One attractive possibility would be adding a playmaker opposite Larry Fitzgerald like Wright.
Either choice would not only be a pretty good talent, but also fill a need on the team.
What would you think? If down to those two players, would you go with Adams or Wright?

I'd say Adams
IMO 13 is too high for Kendall Wright. He’s small, has good ball skills, and is a speed demon, but i would prefer a slightly larger receiver. I think Wright projects much better as a slot receiver, and we already have a pretty good one in Doucet. Adams is an instant upgrade over Keith and Bridges.

I don't
think Doucet will be back. He hasn’t shown any true greatness as a WR. Then he seems to have a tough time staying healthy. There just isn’t enough quality there to keep Doucet around.
He had a pretty good year this year
And we’re already thin at WR to begin with. I would bet that the Cards FO brings him next season, as he likely won’t be very expensive to bring back either

He'll probably be cheaper than most of the wide receivers we should go after
I say keep the continuity going, bring in Garcon or Manningham to be the #2 WR, and use the rest of the money to keep Campbell here

Absolutely ZERO interest in taking a WR at #13
If it’s somehow down to a pick between these two, it’s Adams by a mile.

I'm not into taking 5'10 receivers
In the middle of the 1st round. I guess it depends on how fast he runs. I don’t think he’s faster than like a 4.45 though, so I’d stay away from him at that spot

Yup, you got it exactly
4.4 speed for Wright. I would stay away from him picking at 13. Wright fills the need of a perfect slot receiver, we need an outside guy

People were surprised we took Peterson last year?

Hmmm
Not really up on my college players, but reaching for an OT got us in trouble with Levi in the first place. I think I’d prefer “none of the above” and just go BPA at any postion other than QB, or try to trade trade down.
But forced to choose, I’d have to go BPA between the two, which given the situation sounds like Wright.
There's a zero percent chance that Wright is the best possible player avaliable at 13

If it's between those two I'm going off the map and taking a pass rusher
Of course, that mock doesn’t have Upshaw going until 18th…

Adams!
Wright does not warrant a 13th pick. FA has lots of WR talent and our WR corp is not so weak that we need to use 13 for a small WR. There is very little OT talent in FA so address that need!!!
OT (or Decastro) or OLB, or trade down with Cinci, those should be the only options. Too much talent at those positions in round 1 to pass up
