The regular season is complete and only good teams are left as the playoffs begin. However, being wild card weekend, the very best teams get their week off with the bye. Nonetheless, we get Tim Tebow, Ben Roesthlisberger, Drew Brees and a Texans team ready to prove themselves. As you can imagine, while looking at point spreads, the home teams all have the advantage.
Keep reading to see our playoff picks against the spread for the Saturday games.
On the season against the spread, we went 128-105-4.
Cincinnati Bengals at Houston Texans (-3.0): Houston gets a standard home spread. QB T.J. Yates should be good to go and the team actually sees itself as on a small roll, despite the result of their Week 17 game. With primarily backups against the Titans they almost pulled out a win. Now they are at home with their players mostly healthy. Andy Dalton will get his first postseason experience on the road, which usually does not bode well. Pick: Texans, -3.0. Final score: Texans 23, Bengals 17.
Detroit Lions at New Orleans Saints (-10.5): Who wants to play Drew Brees in New Orleans? The Lions are as equipped as any team, with their high-powered offense that is used to playing in noise at home. However, if you haven't watched the last few weeks of the season, no one is playing better than Drew Brees. He is annihilating teams. A young Lions team will not be able to keep up on this big a stage. Pick: Saints, -10.5. Final score: Saints 41, Lions 27.
Stay tuned for our Sunday picks!
