According to Adam Schefter via twitter:
@AdamSchefter St. Louis Rams received permission to interview Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton for their head coaching job today.
This comes to no surprise to me as Horton did a phenomenal job with the Arizona Cardinals defense give a short off season and a very complex scheme.
The Cardinals despite a horrendous start finished;17th in the league in scoring, 18th in yards per game, 21st in rush defense, 17th in pass yards per game, and 7th in sacks. Not the best numbers but considering the previous year where they finished 30th in scoring, 29th in yards per game, 23rd in passing yards per game, 30th in rushing yards per game and 17th in sacks those numbers are all improved greatly as well as this defense.
Ray Horton did a great job really hope this is just a formality as the Rams are rumored to be heavily considering Jeff Fisher the former Oilers/Titans Head Coach.
(Note from Jess: important thing to note is that the Cardinals cannot deny a head coach interview in this case because Horton is only a coordinator. NFL rules preclude stopping interviews for promotions.)
