Chris Mortenson of ESPN reported a few days ago (via Pro Football Talk) that quarterback Vince Young was set to have a formal workout with the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday as they look for a way to help replace Kevin Kolb. With John Skelton under center, that would indicate the team is unhappy with how he has played and is looking to shore up the QB position. It could also mean that they are looking for a veteran backup outside of Ryan Lindley in case Skelton goes down with an injury as well.
Well, Tuesday has come and passed and it does not appear Young was in Arizona. But Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic knew that already. He dispelled the rumor on Twitter as soon as the report from ESPN came out:
I'm told #azcardinals have no plan to work out Vince Young. Has not been discussed.

Personally, I am going with Somers on this one. He is a beat writer for the team, which means he has their pulse at his fingertips. He has all the inside connections, knowing every move the Cardinals are going to make before they make them. It is his job to know what the Cards are up to. I like Mortenson and think he is usually on the ball, but it appears he may have missed the mark with this one.
What do you make of all this? Would you like to see Vince Young in Cardinal Red? Should he at least get a tryout? Tell us in the comments section below.
