It was bound to happen sooner or later. This was a tough game to swallow on Thursday, but on a positive note at least it wasn't as bad as the one sided beat down Philly gave us in our last appearance on Thursday night, right? A reality we will have to face from here on out is that the Rams went and hired a coach that can make good use of all the first rounders and early round picks that St. Louis has collected over the last half decade, so they will no longer be the doormats that we have all grown used to. This loss will sting far less when the Rams have a respectable record by season's end.
Defensively, there is not much to say because they did what they have done all season and kept us in the game despite our offense's ability to score or even give them some time to catch their breath. On offense things are starting to look very bleak, but let's not forget we are missing our starting tackles, tight end, and running back. Our offensive line has been simply offensive, butI can no longer bash Kolb for being fragile. Oddly, I had no idea Snyder was as versatile as he is when we signed him, not only can he play guard or tackle, but in a pinch we may be able to move him to the other side of the ball to play defensive end or nose tackle.
I want to blame the playcalling (Miller or Whiz), but I don't care who was calling the shots. Let's face it though the team just seemed a little off from what we have seen this season, and much like Whiz says after every loss they really did fail to make some plays that were out on the field. As far as Russ Grimm goes, I for one am growing tired of people blaming him or calling for his head for the performance of the offensive line. He's taking Levi Brown's scapegoat role right now, and it's unwarranted. The finger of blame needs to be pointed somewhere else, unless anyone on this site can name me offensive lineman that have left since Grimm took over and have become pro bowlers, or even starters for that matter. Either way the long week should give the offense time to think about how they embarrassed themselves and show the league that they are the real deal against the Bills next Sunday.
