On Monday Night Football, there is expected to be a defensive bloodbath between the San Francisco 49ers and the Chicago Bears. Both teams have elite, physical defenses. San Francisco is coming off a tie with the Rams, but they lost Alex Smith early in the game to a concussion.
The Bears also lost their QB to a concussion. Jay Cutler is out. Alex Smith has been ruled out for the Niners.
So what about the Vegas spread? San Fran is favored by 7.5 points.
Which way do we go?
You have to balance out the defensive dominance of both teams, which makes the game seem like a close one with the fact that San Fran can put up points.
So in the end, with two backups -- do you go with Campbell or Kaepernick to do the job? This is where I give the edge to the Niners because they have more overall talent on offense and the better offensive line. They will run the ball better and protect Kaepernick. However, since both defenses are great, I can't see one team beating the other by more than a touchdown.
The result? A San Francisco wins straight up, but take the Bears to cover, +7.5.
