So, most of us are probably still in shock from yesterdays game against the Falcons. Our defensive unit played what probably could be argued as one of, if not the best performance/s of the season. It's clear the offense has given up on the season, now I'm not sure if it's the coordinator, scheme, players, etc. What we may have to endure is that if this unit does not pick things up in a hurry it may go down as one of the worst of all time.
Let's start with the questionable coaching decisions. The most glaring decision would happen to be benching John Skelton with a 13 point lead, now Skelton has not exactly been lighting the world up; however he has always notoriously started cold and gotten warm as the game goes on. Lindley came in and did not light the world up, but he did show us he can throw a beauty of a deep ball. He did fumble and some might question it, but what's even more troubling is how the offense just let Atlanta walk that fumble right into the end zone(That's right Fitz, you just walked off the field pissed off). Also shadowed in the benching of John Skelton was the "demotion" if you will of my favorite Cardinal, Adrian Wilson. Adub has been the pro's pro his entire career here in the desert and Ray Horton decided it was time to leave him off the field for nickel and dime packages. Wilson has had his share of whiffs, but I guess if Whisenhunt wants to make a statement to the rest of the team, Wilson is surely the guy to make an example of, as much as I hate to see it.
It's just too bad that our wide receivers (including Fitzgerald) did not get the memo that the post season is still not out of reach. None of our WR's did ourr Quarterbacks a single favor and quite frankly if Whisenhunt wants to make a statement to the offense another Fitzgerald drop should earn him a spot on the bench. It's quite unlike Fitz to play the way he has in the last few games, but look at the performance the defense put on after Wilson got relinquished of his duties in certain packages. Maybe some of you can remind me, did Lindley even target Housler, like at all?
Now onto the play calling. How many times did we see Lindley hit Doucet short of the first down yesterday? Seriously what the F#CK Mike Miller. Lindley was throwing the check downs like he was afraid to get benched in lieu of taking the shot and converting the first down. Then running LaSH up the middle on 3rd and shorts out of the SHOTGUN, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! What other armchair Quarterbacks like myself nearly called every play before it happened? It's just ridiculous how anemic and pathetic this offense looks. When you kicker is leading the team in points it's pretty sad.
Whisenhunt said changes were going to be coming. Now I still believe he is the best coach we have ever had here in Arizona, but this talk of making Ray Horton the new head coach needs to stop. The problem with our offense may or may not be Miller's play calling, but more so I think Miller lacks any motivational skills. See Ray Horton and how he got our defense to still perform after watching the offense sputter over and over and over and over and over and over again. However having said all this we technically still are not out of the post season race, but one more loss and this fan's interest on the season is going to fall off a cliff. This losing skid has been bad for all of us, but I'm sorry Whiz if your idea of making a solution is benching the QB you named starter in the second quarter with a 13 point lead it's time Michael Bidwill turned the heat up on your seat at the table. Who would you replace Whisenhunt with?
