To make a short story shorter, that game was terrible.
I seem to be repeating that sentence every week now. As the Arizona Cardinals fell for the 5th straight game, bringing their record to 4-5, the season seems more and more lost, after that wonderful, 4-0 start to the season. And, yet again, we're left to salvage what was decent from that debacle of a game. Here are the 5 positives from the Cardinals Week 9 loss:
1) The O-line
Although they weren't perfect, the Cardinals O-line showed some amazing improvement when they only let up 1 sack to a tough Packers D-line. Nate Potter showed some some progress from the pre-season, and overall, the O-line wasn't a main cause for the defeat (A first in several weeks).
2) Larod Stephens-Howling
Stephens-Howling showed Cardinals fans why he's still on the team, when he rushed for a 1 yard TD early in the 1st quarter. A large part of the RB's struggles lies on the play-calling, as many fans have expressed frustration at the repeated calls to run Stephens-Howling up the middle, instead of to the outside, where he can utilize his speed. However, he stepped up, and was able to provide the Cardinals with one of their only two TD's for the day.
3) William Gay's Interception
Although Gay had a frustrating day, his interception was a thing of beauty. Picking off Aaron Rodgers early in the 1st quarter, Gay ripped the ball out of the hand's of the receiving Packer. It would prove to be one of the bright spot's for the defense, as they went on to let up 31 points to Green Bay.
At this point, I'm running out of ideas. That's how bad the game was. Fitz once again proved to be one of the best WR's in the league, when he turned a pass from John Skelton into a 31 yard TD in the 3rd quarter. This put the Cardinals within 10 of the Packers, and gave all fans a spark of hope that the team could actually pull it off, and gain the victory.
5) The Bye Week
This was just one of those games where everything seemed to go wrong. Luckily for the Cardinals, they now have a bye week to rest up, before facing the currently undefeated Atlanta Falcons. Hopefully, the team can pull off a win, and attempt to salvage what seems like a lost season. Until then, however, the team will have to change a lot if they hope to break this losing streak.
