Cardinals Vs. Packers snap counts: Arizona's defensive ironmen

Jonathan Daniel

Six players on defense were on the field for every snap.

When the Arizona Cardinals took on the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field last Sunday, not a lot of different defensive players saw action on actual defense. That is because six of the 11 starters never came off the field. Adrian Wilson, Kerry Rhodes, Patrick Peterson, William Gay, Paris Lenon and Daryl Washington all played all 71 defensive snaps.

Naturally, among the linebackers, with neither Washington nor Lenon leaving the field, that meant that neither Stewart Bradley neither Reggie Walker got any reps.

In the defensive backfield, the only two other guys to see action were Jamell Fleming and Michael Adams. Fleming was in for 32 plays and Adams for 15.

At outside linebacker, Sam Acho saw 67 of the 71 plays. O'Brien Schofield, who injured his ankle during the game played 32 snaps and Quentin Groves came in for 37 plays. Even Zack Nash got in the game for a pair of snaps.

Offensively, Michael Floyd played 39 snaps and Early Doucet only 19. D'Anthony Batiste left the game after 18 snaps and Nate Potter played the remaining 49.

At tight end, Rob Housler is officially getting more and more playing time. He played 49 snaps and Jeff King 27.

Running back William Powell only played three offensive snaps.

What still amazes me is how much the defensive veterans play. I know it has been discussed, but Paris Lenon still keeps Stew Bradley and Reggie Walker on the bench after they had snaps earlier in the season and after both made plays in the preseason.
