The Arizona Cardinals take their seven-game losing streak to New York, where they will play the 4-7 Jets. Both teams entered the season with high expectations. Both teams have seen them crumble and their season almost wasted. Both head coaches -- Rex Ryan and Ken Whisenhunt -- are seeing uncertainty about their jobs. Here are some preview stats and how the two teams are connected.
Both team have very strong pass defenses. Arizona has the fourth best rushing defense, while the Jets possess the seventh best. Both teams struggle against the run. New York is surrendering over 140 yards per game, while Arizona allows over 120.
This would favor the Jets because they are more equipped they like to run the ball more -- they run for almost 110 yards a game, while Arizona is just over 80. However, Beanie Wells is healthy, so we could see an Arizona team that leans on the running game.
The last time Arizona faced the Jets, it was in 2008, when the Cardinals, led by Kurt Warner, fell 56-35. Warner was intercepted three times -- twice by Darrelle Revis. Anquan Boldin was hit in the end zone and ended up having broken bones in his face.
This contest will be only the eighth time the two teams have met. The Jets lead the series 5-2, but have won the last five games. The Cards have not beaten the Jets since 1975.
New York has one former Cardinals player -- linebacker Calvin Pace.
