What play by the Arizona Cardinals was play of the game for week 16?
That being said there was a highlight reel worthy play, wasted in a loss. Normally I make this a poll, but this play tops anything else that occurred in the game, and it comes courtesy of special teams.
Chicago marches out their field goal unit, ready to put three more points on the board. At the snap Adrian Wilson comes hard and gets a hand on the kick. Rookie special teams guy Justin Bethel scoops up the ball and returns it the length of the field for a score. Accompanying Bethel on the play and throwing a pair of blocks was Wilson, making sure the play ended in a touchdown.
Sure it was a losing effort. Sure it was clouded by the questions to Wilson at the end of the game about this perhaps being his last home game as a Cardinal. But what I see it as what it truly is, a great effort by a man who has put every ounce of his being into playing for a team.
That's my only choice for play of the game this time around. If you have others let us know in the comments below.
Lastly, have a safe and fortuitous holiday season!
