Beanie Wells doesn't expect to be with Cardinals after this season

USA TODAY Sports

Arizona's Beanie Wells said he feels his days are numbered with the Cardinals.

After an up-and-down four seasons in Arizona, Cardinals running back Beanie Wells said he expects Sunday to be his final game with Arizona.

Wells said he feels his days in Arizona are numbered and he's going into Sunday's season finale with the mindset that the game is an audition for the other 31 NFL teams. Wells, who has battled injuries throughout his Arizona career, called his departure from the Cardinals "inevitable."

"I'm just going to go out there and put my best foot forward for all the 31 other teams that's watching," Wells said, according to AZCentral.com.

The Cardinals selected Wells with the No. 31 pick of the 2009 NFL Draft, but he's failed to live up to the hype of a first-round pick. Wells has missed a considerable amount of time due to various injuries and has played in 16 games in just one of his four seasons. He missed seven games this season with a knee injury and has rushed for just 234 yards while averaging 2.7 yards per carry.

Wells said he hasn't had any "hard discussions" with the organization about his future. He will enter the final year of his five-year rookie contract next season.
