I want to start off by saying I was for the trade for Kevin Kolb, I think the Cardinals had to do it. Had to show they are trying to put together a winning team. I said, in a lot of posts, that we traded DRC and a second for Kolb and Larry Fitzgerald.
This is also not a John Skelton Post because I think that they won some games last year in spite of his play, not because of his play. This being said Skelton is the future no matter how you look at it. He is in his first "official" full offseason with mini camp, OTA's, and a full training camp (hell they even get an extra week because of the Hall of Fame Game). I will give you Skelton was inaccurate and downright bad in the first 3 and a half quarters of the games he started, but we will address that later.
Kurt Warner said many times that it took him 2 years to fully understand the cardinals offence. This was a hall of fame quarterback that ran a Mike Martz offence for 5 years which from what I understand is equally as hard. Skelton and Kolb are both in year two both are really getting their first full off season to learn it and understand it.
I say dont Pay Kolb 7 Million because of no reason listed here, I don't think Skelton is ready (but I do think he can "manage" the game like other qb's have done for their teams), I don't have some insight if we are going to get Manning or not would i prefer to get him hell yes because that makes this plan better. No the reason I don't pay Kolb is because of Concussions. This is our only chance to back out. we lost half a season do we really want to be on the hook for all that money for someone who can only give us 4 games a year?
It will set our set our organization back and low and behold Skelton is going to start most the games for us anyways. This is why we don't pay him, Skelton is the starter (or sit's behind manning for 3 years and learns), if he is the starter then he gets all reps with first team in training camp and we work on his timing and accuracy. He already has the pocket awareness and a damn cannon of an arm. If we don't get manning i would rather have him manage our games for us for this year and try and win 10 or 11 games with our D.
Simple Should we Cut Kolb Regardless of Manning Watch 2012?
