What a waste of a week. We as Cardinal fans are right back where we started from at the beginning of January. So, the question is who do you want to see starting come September?
If you are on this site than you should know the pros and cons of both guys. I will break down my general feelings on both.
Kolb: Cards gave up a 1st rounder (DRC was a 1st, thats how I look at it) and a 2nd for Kolb and gave him a fat contract in the process. Kolb showed some very nice flashes in his short time with Philly, but is injury prone and has shown absolutely NO pocket awareness. On the other side, he had no time to become acclimated to Whiz's complicated system which Warner said takes about a year to digest. He played very good in the Carolina game but did digress as the season went along. And dont even get me started on the injuries. I hated DA as much as the rest of you did but respected him for the thoughness he showed last year. If this team had ever addressed the O-Line the problem wouldnt be as severe.
Skelton: I loved what I saw out of Skelton last year, he has the pocket awareness of a veteran and was not afraid to take off with the ball when he felt he needed to do so. Great arm, and a flair for the dramatic in the 4th qtr. Prone to some knuckleheaded moments, threw some inexcusable picks but as I said, from a very small school. My favorite thing about Skelton is that he showed no fear throwing the ball to Larry even when he was covered and Larry had his monster games with Skelton as the QB.
Personally, I would like to see Skelton be named the starter but something inside of me still believes Kolb can be a very good QB for this team. I believe Skelton will eventually become the future "franchise" QB of this team, but as of right now I think Kolb deserves a full offseason and the chance to start (albiet on a short leash).
What do you think ROTB nation? Whose corner are you in?
