The San Francisco 49ers want Peyton Manning and it seems that Peyton wants to play there, as well. Obviously, the odd man out is Alex Smith. If Alex Smith becomes available, I would love to see him in Cardinal Red! After watching Alex Smith last season, it was obvious that he has talent and all that he really needed was some stability in his coaching staff. Believe it or not, the Cardinals have been the most stable organization in the NFC West, and Smith's progress should continue.
As a fan, I'm scared to death of Kevin Kolb's concussion issues. Let's face the facts; in the past two seasons, Kevin Kolb was handed the starting job in Philadelphia and Arizona, and both seasons ended with Kolb watching from the sidelines, after concussions. It may seem unfair to judge Kolb after injuries, but let's face it, if Kolb is injury prone, he's not worth keeping on the roster. Life in the NFL isn't always fair. Kevin Kolb is now under contract and is officially property of the Arizona Cardinals and the Cardinals can do whatever they want with him. Perhaps, some of the other teams smitten with Kolb's "potential" would be willing to offer a 2nd Round Draft Pick in exchange for Kolb.
To me, Alex Smith has tremendous upside; he's still young, he's got a chip on his shoulder for being shunned by the 49ers, and he's not injury prone. I've seen enough out of Alex Smith and Kevin Kolb to see that Alex Smith is the better option for the Cardinals. I'm still intrigued by John Skelton, but the Cardinals need a legitimate starting QB and if Alex Smith is available, the Cardinals should snatch him up.
What do you guys think?
